how are you gets the ball rolling...lets you feel (by the way they answer) how the possible conversation (if any) will go after that. |

lol I however rarely ask someone how they are doing because they end up telling me the truth
I had a lady once in the checkout line start telling me about her divorce and filing for bankruptcy... sheesh

My answer is pretty much always the same when people ask me that.."I'm in pain" or "I'm ok"..and people actually have gotten MAD at me when I say that I'm in pain or just ok..Its like they want me to lie just to make them feel better or something..I just don't get that.

I think it started out as common curtosy to ask. But very seldom do people take the time to listen to the answer. It's become the new "Hello" to them! |

they just go around seeking reassurance... everything OK? oh good! everything OK? oh good! they don't really want to hear... everything OK? NO?! EGADS...RUN FOR THE TREES!!

My answer is pretty much always the same when people ask me that.."I'm in pain" or "I'm ok"..and people actually have gotten MAD at me when I say that I'm in pain or just ok..Its like they want me to lie just to make them feel better or something..I just don't get that. I've noticed that EVERYTIME I say that I'm not feeling well or something like that..people accuse me of complaining..Its like "oh my gosh next time pass out a script so I know what I should say!"

saying 'how are you' is kind of bieng curtious.
In buisness school;I learned that people dont really wanna know how you are -personaly- they are just bieng nice. It's like saying hi to a stranger. |
