The raising and instilling values falls on the parents, not the educational system (jmo).

But some parents are too busy to actually teach their kids, that they sit back and allow any form of disrespect by brushing it off or just not acknowledging it.

Fran I did include the parents but if adults in positions to demand respect don't (teachers, police officers, etc...)then who's to blame if they get mouthed?

i dont have too many problems with kids disrespecting me directly, they are afraid of me since 9 times out of 10 i am triple their size. but its the people im with that they get mean with, and when i look at them with the eyes that kill,, they tend to shut up real fast and walk away.

Hiya Des, Oh I did too in prior post, but trying to keep it politically correct as now a days if anyone tries to reprimand anothers child, the heavens are lowered and a major case is brought to court... winking it is a parents job to instill values and teach right from wrong. Everyone associated with child will have a part in his/her upbringing as well, but the job is the parents (jmo)

the problem in my eyes is that today alot of parents leave it up to anyone else but themselves to raise their kids. ie the internet, tv, teachers, anyone but themselves. then they wonder why are their kids such hellions. everyones afraid that if they spank their kids child services will be called. or that they will go to jail. some people need to grow a spine and be willing to show that certain behavior is not tolerated, will not be let slide, and that actions have correct reactions.

good one!!! i remember when my oldest daughter was 3 or 4 she walked out of the store with some tootsie pops the kind that are by the checkstand low to the ground and there are like 10 in the bunch... the door was only like 6 feet from the end of the checkstand.. i was pushing out the cart she was walking cause i had my son in the seat.. well right as we got out door i noticed while we neared the parking lot and i went to hold her hand to cross... we trooped right back in there and i made her tell them what she did!!! cause i have always not let them eat a grape in the store till its paid for.. and i always reminded them that things have to be paid for before we eat them or before they go out the door... oh boy she knew too when she had to tell them what she had done!!!!laugh laugh could see it on her face and hear it in her voice.

some more..... nothing like going on a date to a resturaunt... sit at a booth.. when they seat you... and having kids standing up in the booth behind you jumping up and down and putting their hands near your head staring at you and your date...while their parent is sitting next to them to boot... unreal!!! or people who let their kids run around in the resturaunt and toddlers crawl all over the floor and under tables where all the food had dropped and peoples feet were then seat them in the highchair to eat!noway noway
i remember when my kids were young and i took them to a resturant they were probabaly 12 10 and 5. and there were kids running around and jumping from table to table<yes empty tables> and standing in the seats... my kids replied what the heck? what is wrong with those parents to let their kids act all wild like that?laugh laugh

I had this happen...and I turned around and looked right at the dad and asked, "Could you please calm your kid. I am trying to eat man." He looked embarassed, and said something to his kid. Funny thing was that the kid looked at the dad as if he was speaking alien to him. Once I saw that, I laughed my ass. I looked at the kid real hard, and he turned around and never bothered me again.

this is the silliest thing that pisses me off, a child responding Yeah!!! whoa or Huh!!! shocked

What happened to Yes, Yes Ma'am, Yes Sir.... just my $0.02

Makes me wonder, their parents didnt teach them to be polite, what did they teach them?

Humm seems you hit it right on the head THE PARENTS DID NOT TEACH THEM!!

More and more latch key kids Parents no longer want to be bothered with raising their kids instead they leave it up to the schools. Hummm then they want to go nuts when the Schools take the upper hand.noway noway

my point i didnt say anything cause it does no good its in the parenting and im surprised he didnt get an answer like that before.... it did happen to me again the jumping around etc.... this time i did not put up with it.. but to deal with the situation i called the waitress over and asked to be seated in a different booth.. yes the parents notice her move us and all the food with uslaugh laugh and heard me ask to be moved where we could possibly eat in enjoyment afterall you go to a resturant to enjoy your meal and relax... and i put it in those words ...boy those parents straightend up their kids after we movedlaugh laugh
