Funny how Republicans always claim the moral high ground before they scrape the bottom of the barrel!!!

Although I have always been an Independent, I have always voted Republican, until 2004!

The Republican Party has reached and all time low since Bush has taken office.
McCain's flip-flopping, no his complete 540's, on so many issues, since becoming their candidate has just eroded my trust in the party even further, and reinforced my belief that the problems run to the base of their platform.
I can not in all conscience trust any of them, and it will be a long time before I will vote for another Republican!

Too bad that more of the real issues that are debated on this site can not be resolved with such certainty.

What do any of them have to do with Edwards having an affair? Nothing.

What Edwards or any other person does with his own, private, personal life is none of any one else's business but his and his family's.

Maybe we should have local tabloids where we can read salacious stories about everyone's personal life. Why should we expose just politicians, how about what YOU have done in your personal life?

Gotta love people who live in glass houses!

If HE gets reprimanded for his behavior...then maybe we should start at the top and work our way down.
there won't be anything left to our government

BobbJ is right on on this.

I don't buy the tabloids, I don't watch entertainment gossip shows and I think those that do encourage this crap. I've said it before in other threads and I will say it again. Personal lives should be just that...personal. No ones business...unless you are one of those types that points fingers or claims ownership of some higher moral standard. Then you are fair game.

People that run for office (especially for President) are held to a higher standard than ordinary people. It has always been this way and should be. Afterall, they will be making decisions that effect a whole lotta people and not just a few. And how they make decisions in their personal lives is very relevant.
It is very simple, it starts and ends with the truth.

Really? Where do you draw the line? People who are elected to serve the public KNOW that they are being held to a higher standard. How would you feel about your position if he had sex with his niece? (Or his nephew?) Once the trust is gone pertaining to truthfulness, how can you believe anything that politician says from then on? Do we not elect them on trust? What if he has a penchant for sticky fingers when shopping? Would a misdemeanor damage your trust?

John Edwards - what a joke.
Phoney, pretentious, just admire his respect for his wife dying of cancer!

John Edwards apparently wants nothing to do with the press these days in the wake of tabloid reports that he was caught visiting a mistress and their love child, the News & Observer reports. After giving a speech at a Washington hotel, Edwards slipped out through a kitchen exit and emerged in the rear of the hotel. When approached there by a reporter, he said, "Can't do it now, I'm sorry" when asked about the allegations.

The National Enquirer reported online earlier this month that its reporters had spotted Edwards visiting the woman, a former campaign videographer, at a California hotel. Edwards referred to the matter last week as "tabloid trash" but has not commented further.

Wrong.....

Edwards will not speak at the Democratic National Convention

Edwards has been taken off the short list for VP

Edwards will not be appointed to a cabinet position if Obama wins.

Edwards political career is over for now.

Somebody cares!!!
