John Edwards apparently wants nothing to do with the press these days in the wake of tabloid reports that he was caught visiting a mistress and their love child, the News & Observer reports. After giving a speech at a Washington hotel, Edwards slipped out through a kitchen exit and emerged in the rear of the hotel. When approached there by a reporter, he said, "Can't do it now, I'm sorry" when asked about the allegations.

The National Enquirer reported online earlier this month that its reporters had spotted Edwards visiting the woman, a former campaign videographer, at a California hotel. Edwards referred to the matter last week as "tabloid trash" but has not commented further.

I really don't see the point of salacious hoopla over what anyone does in their own personal life. That's what sells the tabloids though. Maybe it's true about Edwards. That's an isuue between him and his wife, not the general mud seeking public. It's always the ones who point the finger, too, that have the most to hide themselves. I am so sick of hearing about this kind of crap against anyone.

I'm a bit surprised that I hadn't heard this story anywhere else though, I'd have thought it would be a big deal.

Until I see more creditable reporting than The Enquirer I will reserve judgment.

If someone is willing to betray the trust of their wife and children, how can we expect that person to be trustworthy? Really? To you, whom he doesn't even know? If he will betray his wife, then any trust you put into him is wasted.

Credible evidence: John Edwards is a trial attorney with an excellent record. If these claims are false, then they are libel and he would make millions on a lawsuit and he could demand a printed apology. John Edwards has not sued and in fact, feigned ignorance about the whole incident. If reporters chased you into a bathroom and you had to hold the door closed and wait for a security guard to show up, would you have forgotten the incident 2 days later? Yeah, he's cheating and he has a love child with the woman.

It's important, because it speaks to his willingness to keep commitments and his trustworthiness. If it was a Republican, it would be all over the news.

It isn't at all unusual for well known people to use entrances and exist to hotels, businesses and public buildings. Usually because they are easier to access and in some cases to protect both the public and themselves.

The alleged woman involved also has denied the accusations of an affair.

Okay, believe what you want. If you think John Edwards would allow such libel to exist when he could easily sue the Enquirer and make loads of cash, more power to you.

Y'all sure do make a lot of presumptions against others, while ignoring the obvious when it concerns Bush and his Administration!

Let's say that this woman who worked for Edwards had asked him for advice concerning something very personal, or visa versa for that matter.
Now Mr. Spider says he should sue to prove your assumptions are lies. He should sue to prove his innocence. If he was to sue, just to shut up the doubters and Prove his innocence, wouldn't he have to reveal the confidential personal information to the public?
Would you think that would be ethical?
Would you want a confidant of yours to do that?

And, what about the source? The Enquirer?? LMAO..
Most of all, what about the presumption of innocence until proven guilty?

The Republicans are busted day in day out for spreading lies on their blog sites. That is where this story is reemerging.

Edwards is a possible choice for Obama's VP even though he says he's not interested.
