Yes it is but meeting anyone that you don’t know is inherently risky. What I always suggest is a neutral, public location. So that could be a restaurant, pub, or coffee shop. ALWAYS arrive in separate vehicles and DO NOT get into his car until you feel confident with the situation. So it is fine to not accept any rides on your first date and the man should be understanding of this and not make you feel bad or awkward. I also think it is perfectly fine for the woman to ask for the man to come to visit her first rather than the other way around. If this is not possible for some reason, meet half way in between in a neutral locale. Hope this helps.
