In a small Texas town, Drummond's bar began construction on a new building
to increase their business. The local Baptist church started a campaign
to block the bar from opening with petitions and prayers. Work progressed
right up till the week before opening when lightning struck the bar and it
burned to the ground.

The church folks were rather smug in their outlook after that, until the
bar owner sued the church on the grounds that the church was ultimately
responsible for the demise of his building, either through direct or indirect
actions or means. The church vehemently denied all responsibility or any
connection to the building's demise in its reply to the court.

As the case made its way into court, the judge looked over the paperwork. At
the hearing he commented, 'I don't know how I'm going to decide this, but
as it appears from the paperwork, we have a bar owner who believes in the
power of prayer, and an entire church congregation that does not.

slaphead

Di, that is truly just too funny!

... and it is a true life story!!!

How it must have made the judge's day!

If those self-righteous people were true believers, the situation should be regarded as no different then having hired a hitman for the 'job'. The only difference here, because of religious freedom, is that the 'church mob' hired a 'hitGOD' instead.

I say nothing short of 'eternity in hell' for them all, including their 'hitgod', ... and no chance for parole!!!

Find a movie called "The man who sued God"

It has a very similar twist to it.

Finally has the insurance company fighting with the church about the existance of god

Funny as hell too.

Hi Abra and your welcome to the laugh, hope you're back on your game again.

Voil - wonderful to hear your voice again. I imagine you're having a wonderful summer and envision you on a boat somewhere. True?

OCEANS - HEY - great to see you again too, wondered if you'd ever find a moment for silly contemplations again.

Belushi, I've never heard of that movie, I'll be sure to look for it. Thanks.

I was just thinking how incredibly awesome it would be to have an update from each of you on each of the perspective worlds around you.

I saw a cemedian last night who did "married" jokes. One of them reminded me of the thread Belushi started about Marrying god. It was:

If God married Jean-Claude Van Damme wouldn't that make him God Damme?noway

I've been studying more about music. I just sent away for lessons on music composition as well as a book about composing for piano. Some day I hope to be able to write music.

I've also been healing myself lately using mind over matter.

It's funny though, even though I'd like to write music I seldom actually listen to music. At least not manmade music. I was hanging my clothes on the line this morning listening to the birds sing. In fact, I was listening to nature in general and how quiet and peaceful it is where I live. This truly is like living in heaven. In fact, it's better than living in heaven cuz there aren't any Christians here. laugh

Every once in a while a car drives by with the windows open playing loud music. Usually some kind of pop, rock, or rap. I just shake my head. They have no idea of the real music they are missing out on. They come here from the city to be on vacation and bring their boom boxes with them. Why they waste the gas I'll never know. They could have stayed home and listened to their boom boxes on their porches. People are truly weird.

I want to write music that sounds like birds singing. bigsmile

I just loved it, Diane. I think it would have made a good show for Mission Impossible. The exact branch of the government overseeing the IMF is never identified, and in the 1980s revival it was suggested the IMF is an independent agency (as the FBI is legally bound to operate only within the U.S.A. and the CIA is likewise bound to only conduct its business outside the U.S.A.) until the first film which was made at the Langley, VA headquarters of the CIA. The IMF Director answered to "the Secretary," who the mission voice said "would disavow any knowledge of your actions" in the event "you or any of your IM Force" were to get "caught or killed," but exactly which secretary was never indicated.

Im living in a house surrounded by three mosques.
Five times a day all three shout at the top of their electrically generated voices, Allu Akhbar.
But the intonation changes depending on who is calling to prayer.

There is a 15 year old kid learning and his voice breaks when he calls and it sounds like a squawling cat!!!

Its hot here, and I have just had a barbq with some nice Dutch people.

Tomorrow I start a new course where I take a complete beginner and teach him all he needs to know about how to kill himself, and me, underwater with scuba gear laugh

the world of the Sinai goes on, as it has for thousands of years. Only the bedouin transport has changed from 4 footed camel to $90,000 4 wheel drive SUV

{wonders}How much would I get for a white woman if we are talking SUVs instead of trading camels??

Thank Rainbow for the report, I really have to find and rent that movie before school starts again, or I'll never see it.

Abra, BEST of luck with your new musical venture, because I would ADORE hearing what birds sound like on the piano. I'm one of the wierd poeple who purchased soundracks with real 'nature' sounds in the background. Thanks for the update on your world. I really believe there is a lot of healing to be attributed to the human mind or maybe mindset. So keep workin it out.

Belushi, "ALLU AKHBAR" after listening to Abra's birds I could hear that cry floating on the air. How interesting. It's hot here too, but I have room mates who don't know how to enjoy summer at all. From heat to air conditioning, arghhh. It was 91 degrees yesterday and I was so relishing walking around school campus getting my classes all set up for fall. All sweaty and hot - yea, finally, a whole day when I wasn't cold.

Keep that scuba gear in good order.

Now where exactly would you get a white woman to trade with those of the bedouin transport?????

Thanks, You guys have brought me a wonderful ending to a long day.

There are plenty of tourists here.

If I exerted a little bit of Dunky-charm, Im sure I could snag a blonde cuties from somewhere - German, Swiss or Dutch abound.

It would of course be a "no return policy" once I have the camels or the SUV, thats it!!!

I dont want no Bedouin guy coming back to me demanding his camels back because the German cutie I sold him doesnt want to be barefoot, pregnant and doing the laundry by using a rock and a mangle!!!

So ungrateful!!! laugh laugh laugh laugh

Hi all...

Di,

That is truly interesting and hilarious story...

I wonder now if there has been an increase of introspective consideration within the church members...

Great share.

My prediction would be that this case would lose its legs before it starts walking .
There is no legal remedy to what you pray for .
