"The Rev. Jesse Jackson apologized Wednesday for saying Barack Obama is “talking down to black people” during what Jackson thought was a private conversation with a FOX News reporter Sunday. Jackson was speaking at the time about Obama’s speeches in black churches and his support for faith-based charities. Jackson said he couldn't recall everything he'd said in the studio but couched the remarks as part of a discussion about Obama speaking to black churchgoers.
In such settings, Obama has urged greater emphasis on fatherhood, advised parents to choose reading books over playing video games and most recently told young students to stick with school and forget about a career as a rap star or professional basketball player. Its funny, I would love to see ole Jess try it with Obama. I remember Jackson's futile attempt at becoming Prez. As a Brit, Im interested, do people take Jackson seriously? Where is his "power base" in terms of who listens to him? |

From what I hear on television and the internet, most of my African American brothers and sisters feel that Rev.Jackson's time has passed him by. My personal opinion is that Rev.Jackson seems to be jealous of Sen.Obama's success. Senator Obama has achieved more in a few years of his life than Rev.Jackson has achieved in all of these decades.
