It Was Oil, All Along

Oh, no, they told us, Iraq isn't a war about oil. That's cynical and simplistic, they said. It's about terror and al-Qaeda and toppling a dictator and spreading democracy and protecting ourselves from weapons of mass destruction. But one by one, these concocted rationales went up in smoke, fire and ashes. And now the bottom line turns out to be ... the bottom line. It is about oil.

Alan Greenspan said so last fall. The former chairman of the Federal Reserve, safely out of office, confessed in his memoir, "Everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil." He elaborated in an interview with The Washington Post's Bob Woodward, "If Saddam Hussein had been head of Iraq and there was no oil under those sands, our response to him would not have been as strong as it was in the first Gulf War."

Remember, also, that soon after the invasion, Donald Rumsfeld's deputy, Paul Wolfowitz, told the press that war was our only strategic choice. "We had virtually no economic options with Iraq," he explained, "because the country floats on a sea of oil."

Who else knew this the day Saddam became a target instead of bin laden?

Fearmongering is a powerful tool, tell the people that Saddam is a threat and we will be struck again if we don't get him and people will follow with no question or at least that is what this administration hoped for. Nevermind that he did not strike us on our homeground in all this time and was fully capable of executing a "9/11" attack the whole time he was in power.frustrated

The main factor for Iraq to become a stable government and economic success as a country and provide great job opportunities for its citizens is because of its vast oil supply.

Saddam ran the oil programs in Iraq horribly with out of date tools, which were inefficient and were prone to accidents. In order to update and run a successful oil program that will bring the country out of dispair all of that needs to be updated. Iraq is turned down initial contracts with western oil companies to do bid contracts.

Most of the big names will likely still get contracts for despite what you think, it is the western oil companies that are the biggest in the world. It is these western oil companies that largest assist and run oil operations throughout the Middle East, and it is the west who first taught the Middle East how to drill and how to get the oil from the ground.

The government doesn't need to think your stupid when your ability to use reason and logic is skewed so horribly in blind devotion to the anti-government zombie following.

Do you want Iraq to fail that much, its people suffer so much more, so the country never becomes an economic democratic powerhouse and thus be able to tow the mainstream mantra?

Just wait until Israel is forced to show its hand and hit Iran's nuclear sites and Iran causes oil shipments to stop. Then you all will be crying for war for oil. Just like recent polls have shown a dramatic shift in opinions to drill for oil.

Israel will not attack Iran!!!

Where did you dream that from?

The whole arab world would just wander in and beat the crap out of the israelis if they did that. Then it would call for help from the US and THEN you would have a war!

But the israelis are nothing more than sabre rattlers and scarers of old women and children!

So, because Syria intended to supply Israel's enemies with nuclear capability and Israel bombed an unused military building, you think that they will take on Iran?

Somehow doubt it.
