Dude...give it up. You lost your argument a long time ago with "Oh this is going to be good."

Whenever someone runs out of something to say either constructively or with substance; have you ever noticed they begin to attack people.

You sir, are one of those people. As well-educated as you appear to be, you should have picked up on that a long time ago. I noticed you not only attacked me, but everyone else who may or may not be Judeo-Christian. In addition, I never ONCE told you I was a Christian, yet you come at me with the comment "oh I can't stomach another blast from Gabriels horn."

Give it up, man. Ya lost. Be a man, suck it up, and deal with it.

... and this coming from someone who has a discussion with himself about my lack of belief system ...

Ok, fair play, I cannot compete with the two of you .. yep, I lost.

I still don't believe you.....

You now dont believe that I lost? OH PUUULLEEEEASE!!!

Make up at least one of your minds

Why should I...you wouldn't believe me anyway...you are an athiest, remember?

Sounds like you pair should become one (or two). You have a huge amount of confusion going on with the pair of you.

As an athiest, I am happy to question everything and accept nothing until its proven.
all you have proven to me is that Im glad you didnt give me the answer as its probably from a Ben & Jerry's carton, that the older one of you pair can read.

I find it VERY VERY interesting that you are hurling insults at me, yet I have not done so to you...all I did was ask a simple question, yet you continue with attacking me and insulting me.

Does this serve any purpose?

Purpose?

That you are fun & loving...

and...

He is not... laugh

pray to God secretly
and openly call on God

Why secretly? Is it such a shameful thing?
I'd be ashamed if I called on something that doesnt exist!
and how do you secretly openly call on something?

reveal Jesus Christ to your heart, which is your spirit, not that piece of soft tissue in your chest, though it will feel Him and tesitfy to your being that He touches the inner man through the inward parts in reflection.

I discovered logic, and science, and I learned that the existence of the world can be explained naturally, without magic. Then I learned that the bible was so unreliable, so full of contradictions, so full of really awful stuff.

Then I learned the hatred that christians will bear towards someone like me, who denies the existence of their ghosts...

And then I learned that the world is filled with people like me.

TRY THIS.
Really really look for Santa Claus.
Dare him to reveal himself to you.
THIS IS NOT A JOKE.
This is a real analogy.
Ask Santa to reveal himself and do it persistently, and you will be convinced.
If you open your heart to him, you will come to know him personally. The choice is yours.

Do you see the futility of this? You could no more believe in Santa than I could believe in a god. Could you really and earnestly ask Santa to reveal himself to you? Or Zeus? Or Isis? Or Shiva? Or Brahma?
You are an ATHEIST in respect to these other gods, just like me. I just believe in one less god than you do.

I constantly get told to "Open up your heart to Jesus", which I take to mean "Emotionally bend-over, drop your trousers and accept god-belief, because it will make you feel better.

Ignore your rational thinking process. Plug up your reasoning ability.
Base your opinion on your emotions, not your logic."

Well, sorry, I don't work that way. I can't be bribed to suspend critical thinking by the promise of eternal life, nor with the threats of eternal pain.

.. and neither as a scientist, should the OP

No man can just open his heart to Jesus , just becasue someone tells him to do so,Belushi.

The only way a man opens his heart to recieve Jesus ,is thru God drawing that person unto Him.

And God knows the time, each person is ready to recieve.
But until then,God is also preparing the heart of man to recieve Him.

Btw,You are not on this forum by accident .
No one is.

True...and what's amazing to me is how much time he spends here insulting people he doesn't even know ????

It seems to me that there is much I can't explain.

I can't explain this feeling of oneness with everything. I can't explain the vibration I feel when I am next to a tree or near the water. I call it life and that is my religion ... and nature ... my church ...

There is some force that animates it all and it doesn't matter to me if you call that God, source, universe, energy or plank ... it is, after all, just a word.

The God described in most books speaks of some separate entity that resembles an ego in the sky - God based upon man more than man is based upon God. That does not resonate with me.

The truth is that no one truly knows. We can only go by what resonates as truth for us.

What you call lost might just be more truth than many are willing or able to admit.

Maybe it's the heartfelt PRAYERS of those who have gone before you that you feel & experience in the air.

No, it is the absolute knowing that I am not separate.

Wow, its still going huh! Cool, I'm just hovering and reading what everyone has to say on the matter! A bit of a diversion fro the original question of can religion and science co-exist inside an idividual but maybe thats my answer. There are some interesting points being made on both sides.

I have known scientists who balance religious aspects of themselves and I have known religious people with very scientific questioning minds as well ... we all believe what we believe...and we hold on to what resonates as truth for us.

Within science there is disagreement and a lot of politics. Within religion there is disagreement and a lot of politics.

But what do I know? I am neither scientist nor religious ...

but I do love the questions ... and the exploration ... a curious mind is a wonderful thing ...

Scientists know more about this earth then prophets and preachers cause they study the earth and weather. Sometimes they may be right some may be wrong. but who really knows?

Carbon 14 a dog bone that's been dead for only 2 years; stating the bone was 14,000 years old.

Science doesn't hold all the answers....some, but not all....
