Help, I've got writers block!!!!!grumble grumble grumble

So what are you working on?

Short story, novel, poetry, song lyrics, other?

One thing that I've found with my novel is that when I have writer's block if I go back and work on the outline that will often give me incentive to get back into writing the actual story!

If you don't have an ouline then shame on you! No wonder you have writer's block! laugh

The think I like about an outline is that it's like working backwarks. You block out the main points of the story. Those end up being the main parts of the book. The novel I'm working on has 6 main parts.

Then you break those parts down into chapters. And then you break each chapter down into "scenes" and you may even need to break the "scenes" down into individual "acts" for each character. Especially if you're writing in 3rd person limited pov. Knowing which character's head you're in helps with how to write that scene.

When I get writer's block I go back and work on improving the outline, and that almost always sparks me to go want to write an actual 'scene'.

That's what works for me. bigsmile

Of course there are days when nothing seems to work. That's when you go jump in the lake (literally). Go do something and come back to it later. Walk the dog, or whatever.

When it comes to writing poetry I can never force it. Some days it just comes natural and I feel like writing a poem about every little thing. Other days it just isn't there.

Don't know why. ohwell

personally, when i was writing the characters for the novel i'm working on (should be out this fall!! [/shameless plug]), i took different character aspects of myself, and personified them. granted, not everyone can really relate to them, but i myself find it a bit more fulfilling to see how "i" interact with "myself" and see how well the characters compliment each other

Abra,

You should write rhyming children's books, I'll illustrate them and we'll make a fortune.

Sounds cool. smokin When do we start?

I wrote a song for Noden. flowerforyou

The lyrics and piano music here,...

The music keeps repeating over and over. You can tell where it starts by the rolled chord that starts the piece. All the other courses are just pounced on.

You come up with a rhyming story that would appeal to children, along with suggestions for pictures.

I will do the pictures in primative cartoon style.

Decisions on format, size, etc. need to be worked out.

I have a binder and I plan on getting a better faster printer ~ although I have an Epson stylus CX5400 now, it is about to fall apart ~ but we could make some prototype books ourselves.

A publisher, if they like the books will be responsible for printing and marketing and we would get a small percentage. We would want to find a reputable printer we trust.

If we have them printed ourselves, (no publisher) we will also have to market them ourselves, which would take up a lot of time. I don't know that much about marketing children's books but we could learn.

As fast as you write and as fast as I could put together the illustrations we could crank them out if we found a publisher who liked the work.

A wonderful good morning to all the great writers!

For those who enjoy creativity and using their imagination then please go to the Green Dragon's Inn. It is your chance to get your fingers typing about a make believe character in a fantasy medieval setting.

Sorry, I would never use a word like that in a poem. Incredulous was a stretch for me and I didn't really like that word either..

First I would have to look up the word. Maybe a short paragraph.

I don’t mind if you’re flirtatious
Telling me that I’m vivacious
Although I think that its hellacious,
You may think that I’m audacious
And don’t expect me to be gracious
I would rather be pugnacious.
