what is the difference in a few extra pounds and fat? i met someone from jsh last night and they told me that since my profile says a few extra pounds he thought i was gonna be fat...so tell me the difference please the difference between fat and a few extra pounds depends on the person looking... has nothing to do with actual weight... If person looking considers him/herself to be of average weight their perception is different from someone who considers themselves a few pounds over. |

my son thinks I am THICK.....well..he just likes the anorexic girls...

it doesn't seem there are set definitions distinguishing between average, a few extra pounds or otherwise....
for me i'm rarely 'happy' with my body shape but i'm not 'unhappy' either.....I just know i need to work out more or eat less.....and it never seems to end..... |

BMI is not at all accurate when it comes to measuring body fat...if you strictly go by BMI than most of the cover models you see on magazines would be considered overweight...they go by what a person of 'slender' build should weigh. If you don't beleive me look up some of the fighters from UFC most of these guys are ripped...but BMI says they are overweight...muslce weighs more than fat...just fyi |

Why all the talk of this subject...it obvious that it goes under the peoples choice award..

5 pounds under or over is what I think of for average 10-20 pounds over weight or less would be "a few extra ponds" and 20+ is obeise...or heavyset my thoughts |

Why are people so obsessed with body type? What difference does it make? I want to date a person, not a body.

Way too much emphasis put on peoples weight for aesthetic reasons. Health should be number one reason to stay fit.

its all the same to me.
but the ones who say 'a few extra pounds' to describe themselves are only doing so cause 'fat' sounds worse all about talking yourself up, man |

well the average size is a 14, im a size 12, so i class myself as average. i would say a sixe 16 to 18 would be a few extra pounds. but sometimes its hard to say, as someone who is a 12 may look bigger than a person who is a size 16, especially if there taller, and how they carry there weight.
