My bmi is 21.2 by height age and bone structure I am 10 -15 lbs under weight at 130. But I have average because like angel I am slim but curvy. I didn't choose athletic although I am because I have found most people think that means "flat chested" and I am far from that. As far as all these scales used to find what you should weigh I think it's a crock. If you are happy confident and comfortable with your weight who is anyone else to tell you that's wrong. I just know mine because that's what they use to measure my progress at the gym... lol do you have your own calipers or are you planning on a more hands on approach? |

what is the difference in a few extra pounds and fat? i met someone from jsh last night and they told me that since my profile says a few extra pounds he thought i was gonna be fat...so tell me the difference please Some who are obese and embarassed might claim they are a few extra pounds when they are actually obese. Where the line exists between average and a few extra pounds is unknown and up for debate since some might consider healthy perfect weight overweight. (models, ultra thin, ect.) |

I've noticed a couple here that claimed, "about average", who in reality were obese. Slender * Underweight = <18.5 About average * Normal weight = 18.5-24.9 A few extra pounds * Overweight = 25-29.9 More than a few extra * Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ I am 24.4, or about average, as advertized. |

By the same token, I've seen profiles where they show "a few extra pounds" and they are in denial!! I'm SO BAD!!!! That's really not like me to put it out there like this. Yet, I don't know exactly where I fit in. I went to some website that tells me by height & weight if I am considered obese, and I am not obese, so I chose "a few extra pounds". Most of it's in the eye of the beholder anyway!! |

BMI is not at all accurate when it comes to measuring body fat...if you strictly go by BMI than most of the cover models you see on magazines would be considered overweight...they go by what a person of 'slender' build should weigh. If you don't beleive me look up some of the fighters from UFC most of these guys are ripped...but BMI says they are overweight...muslce weighs more than fat...just fyi

5 pounds under or over is what I think of for average 10-20 pounds over weight or less would be "a few extra ponds" and 20+ is obeise...or heavyset my thoughts I dont think your view is accurate..and also not very kind. |

Did I see a starting referance anywhere.
I saw a picture the other day of woman that weighed in at 325 lbs. and didn't look to have an oz. of fat. |
