what do you think of a 40 year old man just got of prison after 10 years.he's been out for 2 years now just got married in may this year. he wants to go in the army just to get his gun rights back. and his wife tells him to go she backs him up100%.

depends on why he was in prison? If it was for a white collar crime (embezzlement..or something along those lines) then why not he posed no physical danger to anyone.

Ten years means a class X felony. The military doesn't absorb class X. Dui's, battery,assault,drugs,yes.. But not class X. And the ATF wouldn't clear him for the FOID card anyway.

HUH well I'm very iffy..1st what was he in prison for?And is he on parole?If he has violent tendencies I would think not..

I'm thinking if someone just got out of prison and their top priority is to leave their new wife just to get gun privileges, they need some serious counseling.

So, because a person made bad choices, then paid for said bad choices, he/she should continue to pay ad infinitum?
And we are qualified to pass judgment on his decisions how? |

And he's doing this JUST to get a FOID card? I spent nine years in the army, and never saw anyone with a felony. Could be that I was naive to the situation, but.. Man..
