Colors Run True

Looking at Old Glory wave,
tears trickle at the thought...

Each star representing a great state,
Stripes reminding all of the first ones,
Shadow's cast of freedom here and abroad,
Surviving the burning and debate,
Worn for patriotic pride,
Covering the coffins of the fallen,
Admired by friends,
Feared by enemies,
Part of our national celebrations,
Honored by our pledge,
Life given to keep her high…

Makes one wonder why any,
Would dare to ruffle the red, white, and blue,
Knowing her colors run true!

The color of red,
Is for the blood that was drawn.
It fell on this land,
At this time it doesn't belong.

The white we defend,
The innocent lives.
The little ones purity,
The cry in their eyes.

The blue is for,
the unity we feel.
The justice that called for,
Upon its appeal.
The stars were once circled,
It showed how we stood,
Like the ones in a tribe,
And the ones in the hood.

When its peace that we seek,
The freedom at hand.
We all stand together,
To protect this great land.

Choose or Lose

Are we committed to the cause
Of freedom in our land?
Will we be always able
To play a winner's hand?

I wonder as we listen
To news around the world,
How long our country will behold
The flag that is unfurled?

Will young men fight for freedom
Just like they used to do?
Will they defend our nation,
And the flag, Red, White and Blue?

I wonder how important
They think our right to choose.
I wonder if they realize
How easy we could lose

The Constitution's guarantees,
And all the rights we know,
Well, if they have this knowledge,
They ought to let it show.

In fact, we all should honor
Our country and its laws,
And dedicate our lives to fight
For freedom and its cause.

No nation under heaven
Can do more than we can
To bless the nations of the earth,
And the life of every man.

One man alone can never win
This fight for freedom's land,
But "We, the People, United,"
Together, can command

A "Force" to change directions,
To build a stronger nation,
Where everyone considers it
His right and obligation

Brothers In Arms

by Dire Straits

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day youll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And youll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
Ive watched all your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

Theres so many different worlds
So many differents suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the suns gone to hell
And the moons riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But its written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
Were fools to make war sad
On our brothers in arms tears

(Monster)devil

by Steppenwolf smokin

Once the religious, the hunted and weary
Chasing the promise of freedom and hope
Came to this country to build a new vision
Far from the reaches of kingdom and pope
Like good Christians, some would burn the witches
Later some got slaves to gather riches

But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands to court the wild
And she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light

And once the ties with the crown had been broken
Westward in saddle and wagon it went
And 'til the railroad linked ocean to ocean
Many the lives which had come to an end
While we bullied, stole and bought our a homeland
We began the slaughter of the red man

But still from near and far to seek America
They came by thousands to court the wild
And she just patiently smiled and bore a child
To be their spirit and guiding light

The blue and grey they stomped it
They kicked it just like a dog
And when the war over
They stuffed it just like a hog

And though the past has it's share of injustice
Kind was the spirit in many a way
But it's protectors and friends have been sleeping
Now it's a monster and will not obey

(Suicide)
The spirit was freedom and justice
And it's keepers seem generous and kind
It's leaders were supposed to serve the country
But now they won't pay it no mind
'Cause the people grew fat and got lazy
And now their vote is a meaningless joke
They babble about law and order
But it's all just an echo of what they've been told
Yeah, there's a monster on the loose
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watchin'

Our cities have turned into jungles
And corruption is stranglin' the land
The police force is watching the people
And the people just can't understand
We don't know how to mind our own business
'Cause the whole worlds got to be just like us
Now we are fighting a war over there
No matter who's the winner
We can't pay the cost
'Cause there's a monster on the loose pitchfork
It's got our heads into a noose
And it just sits there watching

(America)
America where are you now?
Don't you care about your sons and daughters? sad
Don't you know we need you nowtears

We can't fight alone against the monster devil

Pledge Of Allegiance, Revisited

I Pledge Allegiance

a solemn vow of obedience, from the earliest age of grievance,
when found deliverance, one people, united against,

tyranny and intolerance,

become the model, of democracy and tolerance.

To The Flag

the symbol of once colonization, come together in celebration,
a new unconquerable nation, a successful castration,
of oppression and dictation.

Of The United States Of America

a conglomeration, of peoples, form one nation coast to coast,
a single relation, one voice, one oration, tread on me,
expect retaliation.

And To The Republic

a democracy, its creation, the Constitution, its foundation,
agreeable to all, in origination, fiercely guarded against demolition,
militarization, and impregnation; over all these years, still on station.

For Which It Stands

the protector, of all oppressed lands, the world over, she lends a hand,
her signature, her blood, in foreign sand.

One Nation

from sea to sea, whether rich or poor, some vocal, others,
chose to ignore, those who guard the shore,
those who knock on heavens door, one nation, esprit de corps.

Under God

in a time, when belief was strong, today, should not be wrong,
having been with us, so very long, a few may sing, a different song,
most will believe, as they have, all along.

Indivisible

one as a whole number, cannot be divided, by any other,
many have tried, under guise, of brother, only to be denied,
by the mother.

With Liberty And Justice For All

the means, to end, all oppression, infinitely wrong with transgression,
succession, regression, and repression along.

Our Pledge of Allegiance

a pledge of a nation, a history profound, one indivisible number,
all it takes, to be, no longer allowed.

Ryan Joseph Cantafio
in his Marine's dress blues

By Joe Cantafio

Joe Cantafio's explains why he wrote the poem...
Brave Warrior, is a song inspired by the life and heroic death of my cousin Ryan Joseph Cantafio, USMC, who paid the ultimate price for American freedom on Thanksgiving Day (November 25, 2004) in Fallujah, Iraq.

The lyric reflect the visions of the day of his funeral; the whole town of Beaver Dam, WI lined the streets as the funeral procession slowly drove from the funeral home to the cemetery waving flags and trying to smile through their tears. During the funeral ceremony a letter was read, written by Ryan's commanding officer in Iraq. Ryan was referred to as a "brave warrior" and the letter ended with the words " ...good night sweet warrior, I kiss your head."

Ryan was a Green Bay Packers fan, he loved family, life, hunting, fishing and his beautiful-young wife Amanda.

LCpl Ryan Joseph Cantafio, USMC

Ryan and his father, Joe, were like brothers. They were business partners in a auto body shop, re-named "Ryan's Auto" after Ryan was buried. The shop now features a beautiful memorial tribute to Ryan, seen by everyone who drives by.

Being an entertainer and patriot, I promised my cousin Joey that Ryan's memory would never fade, as long as I have anything to say. Forgetting is a fear I have come across with may Gold Star families.

Ryan died a hero. The day before he died, he saved the men of his company during a firefighter as the gunner on the back of the Humvee ... the day he died, he saved more men, but couldn't save himself.

Ryan was a quiet and honorable American;
loved by everyone who met him,
an American who stepped-up
on September 11th, 2001
and joined the Marine Corps.
Ryan spoke with his actions
and will forever be remembered
by everyone whose life he touched.

"Brave Warrior,
I'll never forget you, tears
good soldiers never die;
Your memory will never die." noway

Country's Sake

The boy with bright blue eyes
hears the words of what was done
and what did happen to the one
just a few years older.

The boy imagines the flying bullets
as the severely wounded brave hero
pulls others to safety
before death's final call.

A sense of amazement and pride is felt
before the sharp retort of the rifles' salute
reminds him of the now
and the sadness all around.

Then he hears the crisp first note
of the bugle's call of Taps
and is struck by its solemness
that brings the first tear.

And after all those years,
the man still vividly remembers that day
when he heard Taps played for a fallen
the very first time. tears

Nor has the feeling changed
when heard today,
as it remains the same
for all who pay the ultimate price...tears

Each served with honor for country's sake smokin
and deserves prayers of gratitude  and pride, drinker
showing that we do care flowerforyou
