Hi Lee
How are you Sweetheart ? you should know by now , that the queen of edit still was in the editing process. it's easier for me to see the layout and my mistakes when it is already on line ... then i have an hour to make final changes... however some people < quick on the draw > like you , quote me before i get to finish... but that is to be expected , and i am so glad that you do ... cause it would be an awfully lonely place without my friends ,... and i also need people like you to help keep me on my toes... |

I'm doing great too...
just listening to an all time favorite song of mine called renaissance faire by the byrds.. please listen to this beautiful song... the studio version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LV2q_EIC-eg and the live version at monterey pop festival http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AFlBoxsAkI&feature=related (Crosby / McGuinn) I think that maybe I'm dreaming I smell cinnamon and spices I hear music everywhere All around kaleidoscope of color I think that maybe I'm dreaming Maids pass gracefully in laughter Wine coloured flowers in their hair Last call from lands I've never been to I think that maybe I'm dreaming Some flash on a soda of prism Bright jewels on the ladies flashing Eyes catch on a shiny prism Hear ye the crying of the vendors Fruit for sale wax candles for to burn Fires flare soon it will be night fall I think that maybe I'm dreaming I'm sitting here drinking several cups of coffee and am gonna bundle up to go out cause it is cold and foggy today and I'm gonna ride my mountain bike over to the Grocery store and this kind of wimpy fair weather lady is mostly a warm weather bicyclist usually in summer clothing and i am not initially super fond of the weather change but, once i get out there in the cooler cleaner air i like it and the air quality is much better & smells much better usually than in the summer |

Hi,
I finally heard via e-mail from Brett... He is tired, cold, and extremely busy.... After a marine got them stuck in the sand..they had to shovel out for many hours....On Thanksgiving.. For Brett..the best part was being able to eat his Thanksgiving dinner with his best marine brother.... Even though they ate a cold dinner.. He counts the months down of when he will return to the USA.... hmmmmm I miss him so much.... |

It's such a good feeling when you can read words from your child, even better to hear them on the phone. I always made sure my employer knew when my son was overseas so that if, at any given time, he was able to call me, I was taking that call no matter what the circumstances. I know you are counting the months also till you can hold on tight to him again. |

Everybody should be thankful to the soldiers for keeping us free. Amen.... I wish more people would get over themselves for long enough to thank another human being who places him or herself in harm's way to help protect & preserve our Freedom |

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS , HE LIVED ALL ALONE , IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE . I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE, AND TO SEE JUST WHO IN THIS HOME DID LIVE. I LOOKED ALL ABOUT , A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE, NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE. NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND, ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES OF FAR DISTANT LANDS . WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS , A SOBER THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND. FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT , IT WAS DARK AND DREARY, I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER, ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY. THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING, SILENT, ALONE , CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME. THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISOR DER, NOT HOW I PICTURED A UNITED STATES SOLDIER. WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ? CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED? I REALIZED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT , OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT . SOON ROUND THE WORLD , THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY, AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY. THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR, BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE. I COULDN' T HELP WONDER HOW MANY LAY ALONE , ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME. THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE, I DROPPED TO MY KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY. THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE , ' SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE; I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON' T ASK FOR MORE, MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS . THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP , I COULDN' T CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP. I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS , SO SILENT AND STILL AND WE BOTH SHIVERED FROM THE COLD NIGHT 'S CHILL . I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT , THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR SO WILLING TO FIGHT . THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE, WHISPERED , " CARRY ON SANTA , IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE " ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH , AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT . ' MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND, ! AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT . This poem was written by a Marine. The following is his request. I think it is reasonable. . . . PLEASE. Would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S. service men and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities. Let's try in this small way to pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us. Please, do your small part to plant this small seed. |

King James Bible If my people, which are called by my Name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. |

Mission To provide short prayers, devotions and scripture passages suitable for our military men and women in combat zones to use as prayers of protection, strength, courage, guidance and wisdom when going out on daily missions. These may be used privately or shared aloud with a group. About Operation DEPLOYMENT INSPIRATION The idea for Operation Deployment Inspiration came from our son, Chris Barber who is a captain in the Army in the 82nd Airborne, serving in Iraq near the Syrian border. Recently he sent me this request: Mom, if you could send me some prayers, I do a prayer with my guys before every mission and want to start using some passages/prayers. All is well with my men. I sent Chris a few passages from the Psalms and copied the last stanza to "My Country Tis of Thee." Then I seemed to run out of ideas. I emailed him and asked him if it would be OK for me to circulate an email to others who might have prayers and short inspirational words that our men and women in the Armed Forces could use before they go out on dangerous missions. He wrote back, "Mom, sounds great about the devotionals." Many thanks to all of you who help inspire our troops! |

Prayer posted December 12, 2008
Dedicated to: Our military families Posted by: Karen Barber in Alpharetta, GA Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we pray that your angels will guard the families of all of our soldiers. We thank you for the grace and faith with which wives, husbands, children and mothers and fathers handle all of the business of family life while our soldiers are away serving our country. Give each of them strength, hope and joy. Help them handle unexpected problems. Reach out to them when they are lonely. But most of all, fill them with the knowledge of our gratefulness to them for sharing their loved ones with our country. Amen |
