And that means this is PRIDE month throughout the United States. Many Millions of people GLBT and straight will be gathering in cities and towns all over the country.

These events are open to all, to come and learn, to view people who are enjoying their day in the sun, their time together, and their place in a community.

For those of you who pray let it be known there are a great many GLBT who do as well. During this National Pride month, I would ask those here, who pray, to pray with their GLBT brothers and sisters safety, that these events remain a peaceful and joyous occasion and that peoples minds will be open and their hearts will accept with unconditional love all brothers and sisters in humanity.

I'll probably be in ferndale when they have their parade. I am currently doing research on violence in same-sex relationships. Education and knowledge are powerful tools.

I urge every one to take time out to truly seek out knowledge and understanding.

have a great day!

Tanyaan,

Good for you, such research is LONG overdue as well as the REASONS that violence occurs. May your science be strong and unbaised and may it's findings support the need for all individuals in "household" and "family" relationship to have protection under the laws.

I probably will be working. My lesbian friend, Tina who moved to Louisiana with her girlfriend Jennifer told me that when I get a significant other that I would probably be calling off work, too.laugh Jennifer called me to let me know they are doing okay. She called me using Tina's minutes on her cell phone because Tina was always using all of her minutes up.laugh I mention it to her next time Jennifer calls me.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender content, whether in fiction, theater, film, or art, is frequently subject to censorship efforts. Such content is controversial because it questions conventional sexual norms and implicates some groups’ religious and moral beliefs.

Books that feature LGBT characters, or discussion of sexual issues relevant to the GLBT community, are commonly attacked in schools on the ground that they promote, endorse and encourage the “gay lifestyle.” Such material is intentionally omitted from federally funded abstinence education courses, because heterosexuality is the mandated premise of such courses. Even government information about sexual health and safety often excludes information relevant to the LGBT population.

In recent years, discrimination against LGBT individuals has been increasingly rejected by courts and legislators. At the same time, discrimination against art and literature because of the way it represents sexual orientations has become less and less acceptable. And, of course, removing a painting from an exhibition or a book from a library for the sole reason that it portrays homosexuality in a positive light violates the First Amendment requirement that government officials must not discriminate against viewpoints they do not like.

I pray for their safety. To discriminate against veiwpoints that I might not like would be to discriminate against myself in my opinion. It would retard my education greatly. I hope those that go have a blast.

Rainbow, you are correct. In fact the President Bushes program "Abstinance until marriage" is funded by law by our federal government and yet it was and continues to be instituted
totally lacking in consideration of the GLBT community.

Not only can they NOT marry, but they are absolutely not considered in any way when the subject of STD's and AIDS is brought up.

So while straight teens are given all the knowledge and information available to protect themselves, the GLBT community are TOTALLY left out, because the content of such information would be disturbing to the teachers and the straight students.

So it's obviously, according to this govenment, better that they die insteat of disturbing the straight community.

May all the Pride events be peaceful and advance knowledge and understanding in their communities, so that people can live, so that people can be equal, so that communities can include everyone.

Well for those that go maybe they can just fly the flag. I mean a rainbow flag would have to be better than a red flag from what I have read in the forums about red flags.

There is one day in the month of June that I thoughoughly enjoy. It is gay pride parade day. I have been attending it for about 7 years now, without fail.

It is the most fun, loving and humane event I have had the pleasure of attending with thousands, yes I mean THOUSANDS of the many diffent people that go. I have never ever seen or heard of one outbreak of violence and fights. That's thousands of people! I think it was 30,000 strong last year. Not one fight. The only ones trying to start anything were straight people trying to upset the parade. But getting kicked out and taken away from there.

Having the the law on their side and the backing of so many is indeed a reason for pride.

Gays have fought so hard to have equality in life. This is the ONE thing they have been "given". Ha...given....I mean allowed to have. Gays get their month by celebrating three days. A hard long road. Same as many others traveled.
Yet they have so much farther to go. A month recognizing them being gay, but not recognizing their legal rights to exist as we all do.
As with others...many have lost their lives by simply being different.
Most of the people murdered in the past 100 years were killed by governments, and selfish leaders and armies. Look at the millions murdered in Russia, China, Cuba, Rowanda, Sudan, Veitnam, Cambodia, Darfur, etc. It totals to over 100 million people murdered by their own countries and people, not because of their religion, just because they were different or in the way.

Gays were even locked away and let die just for being gay in Germany. They now have a memorial dedicated to them now.

This memorial is important from two points of view — to commemorate the victims, but also to make clear that even today, after we have achieved so much in terms of equal treatment, discrimination still exists daily.
Nazi Germany declared homosexuality a threat to the German race and convicted some 50,000 homosexuals as criminals. An estimated 10,000 to 15,000 gay men were deported to concentration camps, where few survived.

How many know that the CIA is chock full of gay intelligence? As is the armed forces. They can use their minds, but can't use their bodies in the actual fighting side of it. Not....there is many serving right now. But people do not want to know that.

Celebrate... my gay friends, family. You have come a long way.

Kat

I love rainbows. I lost track of how many poems I have written about them.flowerforyou There are so many pretty colors in the world. So far monitors can capture 167 million of them last I have noticed. Imagine a world without color. Yuck.
