Topic: How did you find your god or gods? | |
---|---|
It is pretty fair to assume that most peoples' faiths begin with their parents. At what point and how did you realize that you believed of your own accord? Or not believed if that is the way you went. For those who have had the same faith since childhood; are you, at the very least, suspicious of being in the same faith since birth? or do you just feel lucky?

I was raised as a child loosely Christian. We never went to church, but I was aware of God and Jesus. During some rough years in my early teens I began researching other religions and by 13 I dedicated myself as a Pagan. I stayed a faithful Celtic Pagan until I was 19. Then after having many conversations about religion with someone I admired very much (ok I was falling in love with him lol) I had a most intriguing experiance. I realized right then that it was God, calling me back. And now it was time to use my free will. I'm Christian now, of my own accord, and I now that Jesus died for my sins, and through Him I am saved. That's my story

I had the luxury of having a mentally ill parent that would drag me along to a different church every night and eventually she would get kicked out. She would also fill my head with an incredible amount of crazy facts about religion that I learned were untrue as I grew older.
While it was a unique experience for sure, it also gave me a gift of sorts or say, clarity of mind. I'm not gullible like some. Quoting the bible to me gets people nowhere with me since it was already forced into my head. If people are unable to argue their point with me without quoting, I rarely listen. I have strong faith yet I can't bring myself to go to a church even though I'd like to. |

I was actually raised very religious in the Church of Christ.
The problem is that the more educated I became, then the more I would have questions. History shows us certain things that challenges our beliefs. The catholic church had to use religion as a control over the masses in the older times, so adapted things to their benefit. And modern day churches havent made it any better by using the high end business approach to religion. (evangelists, etc..) But when it all comes down to it, I think it is your personal relationship with GOD that counts, and not all the hooplah thrown out there by the mass marketing of religion. That make any sense whatsoever? |

It was all me baby....Parents brought us up to be who WE are...not who they are. I became a Christian because of circumstances and the Lord showing ME he is real. I now live my life for him.....Pretty simple really......amazing miracles for this lady that I could no longer nor would no longer deny The Lord & Savior.

In order to appreciate God's word it has to come with life for the soul or it means nothing for the inner man. I struggled with that for many years but God is bringing His word with power to me now. I can be glad that he doesn't count success or time like we do. :) I hope you find a loving church to frequent for your own soul's sake & be fed..... |

I now live my life for him.....Pretty simple really......amazing miracles for this lady that I could no longer nor would no longer deny The Lord & Savior. I found this scripture in Galations 4:19....it says... "My children for whom I an suffering birth pangs until Christ is completely & permanently formed within you." This is the reason we wait patiently on God to work through our friends family & assorted people. It's about God doing His work in others until they come to the same knowledge we already know. We all had to come the same way. It also says "if we seek to be justified & declared righteous & in good standing with God through the Law we have fallen from grace." It's about the power of God to rest on people that actually brings about the change of heart in people & not of us. We can only plant seeds... |
