For the people by the people. I really would not change very much in terms of our system of government. I would like to see congress and the house of representatives improve, in turn helping the President. I am for the democratic cause because it just feels right. I wish that the way mass media was could be different and certain laws. It is nice to live in a country that is free and does not force things on you!

G-d bless this Country!!

I think if we could work out a way to get most, most of the corruption out of the government and make it for the people by the people as it should be there are only a few tweeks here and there that could help. The biggest one is get religion and religious influences out of the government period. If a leader has a personal religion I believe that information should be private and not shared publically and no preaching from their job. If they cannot separate their religion from their job they need to step down and let someone who can take their place. When I worked for the government we could not discuss religion on the job and we had to keep our personal religious beliefs at home.

Second, get rid of lobbying, lobbyist. No more wooing candidates. Let them make a choice based on what the people want.

Thirdly, check the check and balances, there seems to be an imbalance in the checks and balances, shown since Bush has been in office.

Fourth, going to war with a country that did not strike us, needs to be a harder process to go through. Maybe take it to vote by the people since it is their sons and daughters who will die.

I agree with your statement...however, this depends on the personal integrity of Americans. I think de-regulating everything made the almighty dollar vulgar to the point of people selling their own mother for a buck. Not good.

Top that with lack of self control running rampant in our society & you get what we got.... :( A dumbed down society. Everything is so corrupt.

So, we can only go to war if someone attacks us first? Yea, thats really smart *insert sarcasm here*. What if our allies are being attack or another country declares war on us or one of a million other reasons.

You say you don't want them to express their religion, but the constitution says they have the right too. If they want to talk about their religion fine. Not everyone has to listen and if they lose/gain support of it then its their responsibility to consider that before they decide to show their religion.

My only problem with how the system is currently run is that its too expensive to run for president. I am sure there are a lot of good people out there that could lead this country well, but don't have the financial means to run for office. Then they have companies paying campaign funds and expecting something in return if you win the election.

Well, it used to be. A republic might be better.

The government of the United States is FANTASTIC just as it is.

The problem is, no one appreciates America, they moan, groan, complain, bash, hate, belittle, degrade, find fault, pass the buck, and on and on and on.

If you are not happy with the US - just take a look at the other countries in the world, MAYBE then all the crybabies will become silent and pitch in and help make the United States of America the GREAT nation that it is.

AND, stop and think what today is, and thank God for your freedom and our great country that He has truly blessed.

Universal voting. Every vote stands on it's own. People vote on all the issues and bills. No lobbyists buying and influencing individual politicians.

REAL government by the people.

Good in an ideal society, bad in ours. Not everyone is up to date on current events. They would have to know what all the legislation says and means verbadem. That is a full time job in its self. Our country would then fall apart because everyone would be worrying about politics and not about the rest of the work that needs to get done.
