Yes and I was up there in August of 03 for the big blackout! Boy it can get hot up there!!

It has been almost 12 years since my husband died and I still have some of his clothes. I have been critized left , right and sideways for that but I really don,t give a damm ! It is my choice what i do with them and not anybody else. Could you imagine what they would say if they knew that sometimes I pull out one of his sweaters , take it to bed with me and cuddle up with it. Iam sure that would freak them right out!!

See the thing is, in the widowed community we know that is perfectly normal! I'm with you, who cares.

I'm at 9 years, next Friday as a matter of fact. And I sort of did it gradually as it happened. I just began to hang some of my things on his side of the walk in closet until I got used to seeing them there and pushing his down bit by bit.

If they knew half the things I do they would have me committed!!
I talk to his pictures , and I am forever asking him for help. This is how I get through the day sometimes . I can go weeks even months without this ..but every now and then I just need to "be with him" .Does that make sense to any of you ?

it makes sense to me, if thats your way of coping, then carry on, you need to.those other people dont need to know these things, and the fact they say those things is sad

Good I.m glad you don,t think I,m nuts!! The thing is people that have not experienced it think that still feeling pain after 12 years is just wrong. This is why it is so good here everyone of us has been through it and we all understand and do not judge,for some of the quirky things we may have to do to cope!

We all do those things Betty. Don't talk to pictures so much anymore as just will say out loud when something bad happens for him to help me...like when I got a bad mammorgram last year and was scared, that kind of thing.

when i was very poorly in hospital with septecimia, one night i had a bad turn and i couldnt walk, all i could do was grab my moms dressing gown from the bottom of the bed, that made me feel safe, until the nurses heard me calling. doing things like that comforts me too.

also just because he is gone does not mean he is off the hook for buying me presents either. Every anniversay he buys me something special .like this year it was a beautiful tennis bracelet!Btw his taste has improved greatly since Iam taking over the shopping for him

Betty you are too much. Mine had excellent taste and I have more jewelry than I EVER wear. But I do buy myself something nice each Christmas since he and the parents are now all gone. The mammogram...I never really got a firm conclusion on that part. Went back twice, even had a sonagram said that they didn't think it was anything and would check again this year. It's coming up next week actually, the day before the sad-aversary of his death...fun fun

i know what its like to be scared.

late last year, 2 ambulances came to my house, took me to the emergency department, they did some bloods, and the doctor walked in, i could tell by his face something was very wrong. he said my liver and kidneys are shutting down and ive got septecimia, which bought on a addisons crisis, he said ill be honest, ill do what i can, but i dont know if youll make it. i did, but it was one hell of a battle, it took me months to re cover. thats was the most scariest things thats happened to me, and to top it off, all i wanted was my mom, and she was 9 hours away in scotland, the thought of dieing without my mom by my side,made me sad, i thought i was going to die, i couldnt even walk i was so weak, this shook me up bad.
