HUH? The last best hope has helped create an economy that is based not on people being financially secure, but instead is based on SPEND,SPEND,SPEND and based it on high interest credit easily accessable to people and then indoctrinated the population that it is good to spend it now and not to worry about paying until later.

This is the last best hope? We not be as bad as some other countries, but I don't think we should be put on a pedistal either. Not just because we push for humanitarian policies world wide. We have done our own damage too.

Wow, Thats some stunning hubris, right there.
Do you think that people in Moscow agree with you? Or how about the people of Cuba,Japan,China,Iceland,switzerland,India...Etc, do they agree with that assessment?

Not to rock the boat, but the majority of Americans don't even agree with that, seeing the approval ratings of both Congress and the President. It seems to me that we have enough problems keeping our collective necks above water right here at home, to be worried about being the last hope of the planet.

I don't think the people in Moscow and Cuba have the freedom to say anything. Ever hear of the gulag?

And why do people risk their life to enter our country? And why don't people risk their life to leave the U.S.A.?

They don't have the right to say anything in Cuba or Russia? Granted the freedom to do that is very limited, but they don't get to say anything? Kasparov, in all his glory, was all over the place criticizing Putin and the hardliners over there. As far as Cuba is concerned, when was the last time anyone went over there to interview a Cuban? Oh, yea, thats illegal, Americans aren't suppose to travel there. The chunky ole' Micheal Moore did it anyway and we know how that turned out.

"Ever hear of the gulag?

We are headed for the Gulag system, right here or haven't you heard of a Fema Camp? Posse Comitatus is gone, Habeas Corpus is too and if you bother to take the time to read the scary, Orwellian, oppressive crap thats in the "patriot" act, the John Warner Defense authorization act and other draconian pieces of legislation (lots of Bush and Clinton PDD's are full of this stuff), you would know that a day is coming where people might have to risk their lives to leave this country, considering the million plus names on the no fly list.

The people risking their lives to enter it have been finding out that we're no longer the beacon of freedom that this nation once was.

Oh, and before you rattle of the standard Neocon fascist line of "why don't you leave?" Let's put it on the table. It's not all gone yet, If I just packed up shop and ran away, I would be letting all the blood of those who died to free us from the tyranny of King George, the blood of those who sought to stop guys like Hitler go for nothing, I would be letting all the things the founding fathers argued, fought and in some cases died to give us go for the sake of what? Temporary safety? Screw that. Liberty and Freedom are worth dealing with brainwashed sheep from time to time and its worth dying for.

I think that you are generally right. The idea of America "pushing for humanitarian policies worldwide" is however far from the truth. Do you realise that they turn the other side when it suits big business better? There are lots of examples. Think about Chile in 1973, huge parts of the Arab world including Saudi Arabia and the Guantamo bay prison. I'd say that they say one thing and do another. It would be nice if they had consistently been really humanitarian.
