So then the Native owned corporations who bring money to their bands should give up their rights?
They, who have worked to get from nothing to self reliance should just give it up?
Too many battles have been fought to gain what is now in the hands of First Nations.
Nationalizing the industry would hurt more than just the large corporations.

I would suggest you read the article I posted but for your information I do burn wood in a wood burner I have in my liveing room and I run it 24/7 in the winter and I car pool.

I have read your information, and I use to work at oil refineries. I can say they make LOTS and LOTS of money. The problem comes down to the fact of how much is too much. If you go based on the dollar amount then oil companies make WAY to much, but if you go based on % profit based on revenue then you really need to look at pharmacuetical companies and banks. They make 20-40% profit on revenue versus oil making about 10%.

from what i understand from my european friends when they come to america they fall IN LOVE WITH OUR PRICES!!!what we pay today germany was paying 10 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
they also have mass transit that puts our country to shame and there way of life isnt built around an automobile

Spreading government control is not the answer. Especially since most of congress has ties to the oil industry. The problem we have now is every time there is a technology that is invented, oil companies buy it up and destroy it. The government needs to donate money towards ACTUAL alternative sources of energy. It seems the only source they took seriously was ethanol. This was the worst idea anyone ever had. All this does is make food more expensive. Not to mention it doesn't actually lower the cost of fuel. There are many other alternative source of fuel people are looking into but not getting much funding from. Hence your particle accelerator, solar energy (which can me drastically improved with nanotechnology), and even nuclear energy. It makes me sick when people want to give the government more power, like it will solve all their problems. This is my biggest problem with the democratic philosophy (not that i am a republican). While we are at it, it would be nice if we stopped paying farmers not to farm, and instead subsidizing some of the farming costs, making it somewhat desireable to actually produce our own food. The problem here IS IN FACT government control in the first place. Little by little they allow the major industries to form oligopolies. Competition is the answer. If oil companies have to compete with a cheap source of energy prices will go down. Hell, we wouldn't even NEED oil anymore. Wouldn't that be nice?

We are a free country great as we are because of capitalism and profit.. The government should not take anything from a business or individual. Let's nationalize your personal property and then distribute that property to someone that thinks they deserves it more? Good grief!!!

If you look at our bigger cities the mass transit is pretty much the same my friend. So in order to mimik this we would have to live in highly populated areas. Any lack of public transportation is due to our size, not lack of trying.

Yes, nationalization is an aoption. All we have to allow is the suspension of the "illegal takings" section of the constitution. And while that is being done, perhaps the "free speech" clause should also be suspended, then the imbeciles who cannot see past the end of their noses would run some sort of risk for enunciating and advocating such drivel as this.JMAFO

Well I think we should first...be supplying our nation with our OWN oil first.

I also think our refineries should be fully operational & if they aren't then get them up & running.

I'm not sure I want the govt. to take over the oil cos. but regulate them...ABSOLUTELY! ABSOLUTELY!!!! They need to be regulated.

The problem is we only have 12 years of oil at the current rate of use. We could have more from oil shale, but it is not cost effective.

Well that's not true...there is enough crude oil in AK to service our nation for more than two HUNDRED years. There is also other inventions that actually work that are being shelved by those who don't want competition. I think I posted a few videos here... but here...take a look see...

and this one too....

There are plenty of things our govt. can be doing to get us AFFORDABLE energy. While I believe in free enterprize... wiping out competition is NOT FREE enterprize.

So what's your point? That we aren't paying enough???? It's that kind of thinking that got rashionings of even basic necessities in Russia for many years. Liking big govt. is not a good thing. Ask anyone who had to endure living behind the iron curtain.

Nationalizing ANYTHING is just plain stupid.
I really don't want the government in control of the oil industry. I mean they do such a great job with the USPS right?

The problems with big business don't come when there isn't enough government intervention. The problems with big business come when there is too much government intervention.

The only way that our goverment can help with the oil industry is to allow drilling in Alaska and of our shores. Beyond that they need to stay well clear of the operations of the industry.

Nationalized oil..Working great for Hugo Chavez not so much for his people.
