Remembering The Dogwoods

I remember the days of yore
In those West Virginia hills,
Of those beautiful dogwoods
With their flowering branches still.
Riding up the snaky roads
Looking down upon the hillside,
I saw nothing but snowy white
In my dreams, I subside.

With those beautiful flowers
That have a story of their own,
The three petals of bloodstains
The story should be known.
They represent, the Christ our Lord
To remind us of His pain,
How He bore, those three nails
He didn't die in vain.

Oh yes, I still remember
Of those wonderful weekend rides,
And being told that story
I never tire of His pride.
Thank you God every day
Of reminding us of your Son,
With those beautiful white flowers
That glisten in the sun.
