Ask them if they would rather you try to meet people at a bar! That is what I do. I think this is safer just my opinion

People often discount what they fear or don't understand! I read an article recently that you might want to site next time someone is critical of your choice to explore online dating. This is a great way to talk to people you might not give the time of day to in your every day dealing with the crazy public life. I have talked to lots of people and really enjoyed my self, heck I have even met a few. You are grown do what feels right for you.

I told a couple family members that I'd joined an online dating site, which they said must be out of desperation. I don't know, it kind of made me feel ashamed! I was wondering if anyone has encountered similar remarks, and how they deal with it?! (also I need some reassurance!) Thanks so much~ Well... I started trying out all this online dating nonsense because of a certain amount of "desperation", if you can call it that- I wasn't gettin' any luck out there in the real world, and I thought doin' the online thing would be a little less messed-up. That, and several friends of mine had goat-roped me into this stuff.

my family just told me to be careful and they kindve in some ways thought i was crazy.. its not being desperate I went thru that too. When I first started dating, my Dad went the phone numbers of my dates. He's calmed down now. I had friends that had been dating online for awhile and I said, "No, way - never me." Well, here I am!! I don't do the bar scenes.
