It's an obvious prison scam. They'll try to get you to dial some star-with-two-digit number to get control of your phone. Once they do that, they'll be making all sorts of calls and charge them all to YOUR phone bill. It's a major scam out there at present.

Your best bet would be to block them and hang up. Don't dial ANY *## number while on the phone with them, as you'll incur serious phone charges if you do. And you won't be able to contest the charges either, as you've WILLINGLY punched in the number and stuff.

I work in a law office and we get calls from inmates seeking representation all the time but we turn them down or don't return the calls (we don't handle inmate representation), but some of them have the most horrific stories to tell and sometimes I listen to them and refer them to some places that might be able to help.
