Hi, my name is Richard and I'm a stable, hard-working man who loves life and having fun. This Capricorn has come up the hard way and is looking for some enjoyment out of life now.
Originally from Montreal, I was brought up in the old French-Canadian way, where chivalry still counted for a great deal, and gracious manners were a must. I can be a bit strong-willed when it comes to observing the proprieties.
I'm ex of the Canadian Armed Forces and served 4 years in Canada and abroad until Honorably Discharged. Had the distinction of being the youngest guy ever posted overseas in Peacetime. (I fooled 'em into thinking I was very mature for my age, "It's called ACTING!")
I have diverse and somewhat eclectic tastes, meaning I'm as happy with a hockey game and a hot dog as at a swank soirée and Beef Wellington. I don't take myself very seriously most of the time because life is too short to live it without laughing as often as possible.
I enjoy all kinds of music, from R&B and Rock to Clical and Techo-Trance. (Bonus points for you if you can tell me what group sang a song that had the line, "I Dream of Wires" in it).
My philosophy is that no day is wasted if you learn at least one new thing and that specialization is for insects.
I seek someone sophisticated, yet down-to-earth, someone who is able to appreciate eclectic tastes and experiences AND someone who doesn't take themselves so seriously that they think that they're "All That And a Bag Of Chips"! Someone who can also laugh at a good joke or a pie in the face.
Intelligence is always appreciated and the ability to hold a conversation on a wide variety of subjects is a definite plus! Also, if you laugh at my antics and jokes, well, that's more effective than blowing in my ear...
To me, a person's physical appearance is of lesser importance than their atude and philosophy. Their abilities in a food fight, if adequate, will never fail to impress me.
I am a well rounded individual, both academically and socially and as such, I enjoy any and all new experiences and relish the aculation of all experiences new and/or different. The occasional chocolate pie placed on my chair as I sit down to supper is also always appreciated.
No major problems or hang-ups, don't do drugs, non-abuser, my only vices are cigarettes (trying to quit), computers, Ketchup and Spam sandwiches (Spam, IT"S CRAZY TASTY!), and my Toyota Matrix XRS...
BTW - I am a meeting Facilitator for an Addiction Recovery organization, when I'm not working. I host 3 meetings a week in the evenings, so Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays aren't good date nights for me. Unless you want to come along and hear me speak. There will be cookies...
