To be 21 and to have a plan like that is AWESOME. When I was 21 I had no clue what I wanted (And I still don't have a clue). GO FOR IT

Good luck, but why go for EMT cert before joining the Army? The army will teach you what you need to know about being an operating room tech. If it's for personal reasons and wanting to be the best, I understand. Why not wait til post-Army so that your EMT cert will be current and you'll be more experienced. Therefore the test won't be as hard. Unless however, you do plan on volunteering your services to the civilian world while active in the Army, which I also understand. Good Luck!

This sounds like me 20 yrs ago.
I joined Colo. Army National Guard to be Army Field Medic.91A
Then I got my EMT-Basic, then Paramedic.
Guard trained me to be Operating Room Tech. 91D
Then I got my LPN, then 8 yrs later my RN, last year Bachelors in Healthcare Management.
I sure took the long way around, but its been fun.
Good Luck

Well, I wasn't in the Army.

In the Navy, I didn't exactly get the job I wanted or even close to it. But looking back I wouldn't change a thing. Not eveyone can say they worked on 75 million dollar airplane or a flightdeck.

Howevwer some poeople don't get the job they wanted and, sadly it ruins their career in the military.
