Topic: I am NOT my disability...... | |

Well, I don’t know if this is going to sound uplifting or just add to the depression but,…
Finding a compatible partner isn’t easy for anyone!!! I would be thrilled to discover my mate is in a wheelchair, or has a missing limb, or a disabling disease, or had a mastectomy. Errrr,… wait a minute,… that didn’t sound right,…. No, I wouldn’t be thrilled that she was disabled or diseased,…. I just mean that I would be thrilled to find her and the fact that she is disabled or diseased wouldn’t deter me,…. Oh dear,…. I think I really screwed this post up. ![]() |

You seem to complain about not finding a compatible partner all the time, and yet you have closed the door. You have given up. You write in your profile that you are not looking. JB So? I must be mentally and emotionally disabled then. Screw me! Err,.... I mean,.... shoot me! Well, actually,....if you want to screw me, maybe that's a better choice. Whatever. Alright,… Maybe it's time to change my profile. A lot of people have been complaining that I’ve been complaining about not having a mate whilst I’m not trying to have one. Owl change my profile to Desperately Seeking Susan!. How’s that? Can I do that on Just Say Hi?, Or should I do that on OneForTheRoad or whatever the hell the new site name is. |

You will find the one your heart desires. Be patient. When they come along, they will see the beauty of you and in you and love you for who you are, not what you circumstances may be at the time. The "right one" is out there somewhere. The way you can share your feelings with the world is amazing and a great plus, keep it up.
Lots of luck and love. |

For Abracadabra: Before you change your profile decide what you want, be careful what you ask for, and make sure you are willing and able to handle the on onslaught of women if you are really serious. But what it will take is a change of attitude. JB |

Disabilities:
The most amazing thing I ever saw in my life: I was in a paint store and a man came in and bought some paint. I didn't pay much attention as I was busy, but this man had no arms, just two stumps. He bought some paint and stood on one foot while he wrote a check for the purchase with the other foot. He was bare foot but he had learned to use his feet as hands. The man at the cash register stood in shock holding the check after the other man had left. I asked him what was wrong, and he said "I'm not going to even cash this check." I ask why? He said: "That man wrote it with his foot." I later found out that disabled man with stumps for arms had a wife and three or four kids. He drove a car too. With his feet. He was also an awesome pool player. He had been born with his disability, so I guess he did not realize he was disabled. JB |

You are so very right in what you say Lady, most only see the negative in others, some do not know how to broaden their surroundings, be sure that when you do find someone that that person has seen beyond your disability.

JB Well..I don't focus on my disability(That was the whole point in giving that poem the title of "I am not my disability").. but it's not like I can ignore it either..people around me quickly remind me that I am not like everyone else..even relatives treat me different from the way they treat each other,When I was a kid I was never invited to any of the family functions because they were all scared that they'd have to get off their butts to do something for me..which is absolutely NOT true..they just never took out the time to sit and ask me what I'm capable of doing(I didn't need a care giver back then and now at almost 30yrs old I most definitely don't need one)..it was just easier on them to leave me at home.My grandmother had to force them to bring me to her so that we could spend time together..the whole time picking on me saying this like "You better enjoy this visit cuz it'll never happen again".I can do everything every one else can do cept for walk and work..THAT's the ONLY difference between me and everyone else. |

your heart has brought this to mind...
Into I walked into the open room, The walls had tumbled down. A warmth of sun, rayed splendor Filled my frame, self found. The blue was skyed and billowed, Cloudy, cotton wind, Touching all around me Home, familiar friend. Opened all the windows, Stretched past my weary view, Looking, lost into the vast, Old and seeing new. Remembered, once the red dirt soiled, Fields and rocks clay, sift, Wheat and gnarly mesquite, Tumbleweeds adrift. From this room, this family, In my chair's embrace, Prairie and the stormy, Distant winds did face. So vast the room is opened, World, a gift is mine, Room of tables filling, And chairs of life design. My door has opened inward, No walls to crowd and keep, Distance bricked inside the heart, The sea, the rain, words weep. I live inside my open room, Stars circling overhead, The birds, the clouds and milky sky, And sandy beach, my bed The sea, as far as heart contains, Room cannot be filled. Will stay as open sky displays, And waves the sand refills. Welcome love as open, Never let it close. Live with me within this room, This life, the soul, it's rose. Raine Les 10/03/2007 |
