I quit 11 years ago, started again 5 years ago. I'll tell you this though. If you can make it through the first sixteen days of quitting, you have the whole thing licked. If a person does anything sixteen times in a row, you've gotten yourself a habit. So waking up sixteen days without a smoke is a habit for life.

Every hour some more alvoli in your lungs come back to life, so your cough might pick up for a week or two, but ignore that. Do some running, the heavy breathing will break it up a little quicker and the cough will subside quicker.

If your jonesing bad, smoke some pot, it's not addictive and it'll make you relax. The bonus is you'll be stoned and space off that you wanted a smoke. With any luck you'll space cigarettes right off the face of the earth - it can happen.

I know, I'm giving advice on quitting after admitting to being a retread smoker. That was a conscious decision to start again, and I'll continue to do so until I have someone positive in my life again. But I don't encourage the habit, though we could use the tax revenue generated by the sales.

Good luck, breathe easy!!!

Every morning, get down on your knees and say:

"God, please don't let me smoke today."

At night, say thanks.

This crap is tried and proven. I quit porn the same way. (Ignore the joke; it really does work dude.)

good luck

Awww will power is the answer I quit 5 years ago Jan. I don't miss it at all and was smoking 3 packs a day so ya I had one hell of a habit to kick.

One of the things I did was cut straws into 3rd's keep them in my truck at the time and my purse. You see the hand motion back and forth to the mouth is what we end up missing most. So when I had the craving for a cig and was driving. I grabbed a straw instead that way you have that motion and would chew on it, then throw it away when through with it. When at home I would find something to keep me busy when I had the cravings the worst.

But having a goal to work forward to is good also. I figured up what I was saving a month by not smoking the first few weeks I would go buy me something I wanted hey made me want to make it to the next week. Did not have to be expensive nor did I spend what all I saved.

And yes I quit Cold Turkey no patches, no gum, and no pills. To me Cold Turkey is the best way. Why would you do others that give you the nictone just to have to wean off of it too.noway

drop and do 10 push-ups every time you are craving....it looks a little weird at the bus stop.....but can be effective

I am an addiction counselor, and I do smoke, I went to the smoking cessation training and know what needs to be done to quit, but as every addictive drug, you have to want to quit for it to work

smoking kills more people in a minute then drugs and alcohol
is the worse habit in the world, because you not only killing your self, but also those around you,,,

if you quit already don't pick up that cigarette again,
because one drag will take you back to tobacco and it's chemicals again

good luck, I have quit 5 times and not giving up, I have 3 days again, I will use the therapy I use with my patients on me
this time I will practice what I preach.....and also need your supportflowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou
