If it's a Dell there should be a model # somewhere on the tower/case. That would help.

If its a dell or compact, then the operating system should also be on the disc...

wiley ... it's a dimension 3000 and I can get all the info. I know the problem...just can't find the disks to go back to 2000. and Dell doesn't seem to want to help...they want me to buy a new one. they don't like to fix things. I have looked everywhere for the 2000 operating system. I can't go online because it would take forever and I need to get XP formatting off the drive before I install 2000. I can do all of that if i can find the 2000 disk..................UGH lol

I have the Dell operating restore disk for XP but not 2000. I had never put XP on the computer...just had the disk. 2000 was already loaded onto the computer for me.

Dell blows....just my opinion....some great customer no service unless you have a large corp account with them... |

The Dimension 3000 comes pre-loaded with XP. They had to put 2000 on for you specifically. I'm surprised you don't have a 2000 disc somewhere though. |
