Winx~~ I feel very lucky! My SO washed dishes when he was here... the whole time. Even if I said... NO!

I know there are chores I loathe. Dishes included. But I do them.

However, this person, who said.. "Naw. I prefer not to". They were just plain rude. It seems he was asking just to ask and had no intent of helping. I say if you already have one or more children... why add to that?

Lilith, I agree.

I saw a glimpse of what the future may hold with him. I should thank him for that.laugh

There might be a particular job you despise and can perhaps trade off with your partner, but household chores and responsibilities need to shared equitably. I see no reason for chore gender assignation.

They think that doing dishes is a women's job.

This explains the pile of dishes I got on my kitchen counter!

Naw.. I just throw them away and buy new ones.
You can only scrub paper plates once maybe twice, before they get holes and droop.

So then can we assume you are just lazy that you got a pile of paper plates on your counter rather than in the trash? happy

Someone recently asked me if I needed help in the kitchen while I was cooking dinner. I suggested cleaning off the dishes. I have a dishwasher. This does not mean washing the dishes - just cleaning them off.

Their answer was, "Naw. I'd prefer not to."
They think that doing dishes is a women's job. I think this is a bad sign.

If you were in a relationship, would you help with the dishes?
Do you think it's the woman's job?

Honest answer please.

I would help. I don't believe in any job being strictly a man's/woman's job. That's pretty damn sexist.

To each according to their ability sounds about right.

It doesn't bother me at all to do dishes. I did them a lot when I was married. Of course, I don't have any dishes anymore, so it's not an issue, but I would still do them if I had any.

As long as I don't have to cook -- there are fires, explosions, radiation poisioning, etc. -- I'm pretty much OK with housework.
