Someone recently asked me if I needed help in the kitchen while I was cooking dinner. I suggested cleaning off the dishes. I have a dishwasher. This does not mean washing the dishes - just cleaning them off.

Their answer was, "Naw. I'd prefer not to."
They think that doing dishes is a women's job. I think this is a bad sign.

If you were in a relationship, would you help with the dishes?
Do you think it's the woman's job?

Honest answer please.

only someone who is sexist would think that way

Sharing a life with a sexist doesn't sound like a very healthy relationship, does it?

I dated guy for a bit who cooked, washed dishes, did his own laundry. The minute we moved in together he 'forgot' how to do all that, so yeah, there are guys who still feel certain tasks are woman's work. The problem is, he wasn't willing to perform the traditional 'man's job' tasks, like mowing the lawn, taking out the trash, etc. I was expected to do it all. We are no longer together...go figure!

Times, they are a changin' and continue to change. Time for traditonal roles to take a hike and we all start working on tasks together.

What U have mentioned above sounds like primitive mentality 2 me.A relationship is 50-50 all the way or it is destined 4 failure(jmo)

Yeah, I was kind of looking at it as being destined for failure too.

It's not all about the dishes. It's about - not helping is not caring to me.

I agree 100%, in todays world when two people work if the male does the cooking then the girl does the cleaning or u do it together. Doing those little things together will only make the big things work alot better. If he already doesn't help, trust me it only gets worse later on.

Gently remind your gentleman friend that we are now in the 21 century. Even when I was married I did more than 1/2 of the dishes, and most of the cooking, plus the "man jobs" shovel snow clean gutters, plumbing repairs, mow lawn. Oh yes I have done my own laundry since I was 18. Now I am single again and guess what? I get to do all of it. Granted it's easier doing it for one than a family of 4.

I hope you didn't "give it up" for dessert.
Next time feed him a cheap Swanson TV dinner.

Do you think it's the woman's job?WHEN IN A RELATIONSHIP, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "WOMANS JOB". EVERTHING SHOULD BE DONE WITH EQUAL ABANDON

Honest answer please.

No No Winx, you cook yourself something good, give him the TV dinner, as I remember the turkey dinner was the worst. If you get him the fried chicken be sure to "accidentally" dump the chicken on the floor, just pick it up and put it back in the cardboard thing they call a plate.laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

I actually laughed outloud on that one.

So, I am to serve a Swanson turkey dinner. I sooo cannot drop the food on the floor. It's not in me.

And I am to eat something different.

Of course, I should use the china and have candles too.

That should be an interesting dinner to say the least.laugh

i think that you should cook your own food, forget him, and he forgets to clean his own dishes, he's out of there...,, or tell him to eat out of the damn pan, like i do, then clean the damn thing, and use plastic forks, cause he'll scratch the teflon... or he owes you a pan. and paper plates, or a dog dish are a must for this phuckphace....

Winx, I am an excellent dish washer, I help all my friends in the kitchen, yard, just wherever Help is needed. Sometimes I get hired for major projects. Sometimes I just earn a home cooked meal. Win win either way.
