Hi Rick
Now there are no religions forcing ideas.
If religion has no scientific basis for its foundation what are the scientific basis for atheism?
Could advances in technology and science tell you when, where and how you will die?

God is a spirit
The Egyptian Church says: God is not matter, it is not permissible to attribute to Him any of the attributes of matter such as partiality, fragmentation, composition, weight, and form. So is the impossibility of seeing, touching, or knowing God with one of the physical senses. It is not permissible to attribute to him bodily organs or desires. The revelation ascribes it to Him, in order to approximate a specific meaning to humans. Likewise, God is a rational, moral, chosen, willful being, that is, He has a will, and all the intrinsic attributes.
God is a spirit unlimited in Himself, in his existence, glory, bliss, and perfection, sufficient for all, eternal (permanent), unchanging and incomprehensible, omnipresent, omnipotent, all-knowing, wise, holy, just, merciful, slow to anger, and abundant. Benevolence and loyalty. He is unchangeable in His existence, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, goodwill, and truth.
In Islam, the Holy Spirit is believed to be the Angel Gabriel.
Islam believes that God described Himself as the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the Lord of the Worlds, the Eternal, the Creator, the Forgiving, Severe in Punishment. He is not a compound, and is not a body, or essences, and is not the subject of accidents, not visible, has no partner, meanings and conditions do not expose Him, and He is not in need.
The Quran said:
In the name of Allah [God], Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Say: 'He is Allah, the One, the called upon. Who has not given birth, and has not been born, and there is none equal to Him. '

God is the Most Merciful, and severe in punishment
The Bible says about mercy
Deuteronomy 7:9 – “Know, then, that the Lord, your God, is God: the faithful God who keeps covenant mercy to the thousandth generation toward those who love him and keep his commandments.”
Proverbs 28:13 – “No one who conceals transgressions will prosper, but one who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.”
God is severe in punishment
Psalm 94:12-13 ; Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O Lord, And whom You teach out of Your law; That You may grant him relief from the days of adversity, Until a pit is dug for the wicked.
Psalm 119:75; I know, O Lord, that Your judgments are righteous.
73 Bible Verses about Punishment, By God

https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Punishment,-By-God

The Quran says:
‘’Know that Allah [God] is Stern in retribution, and that Allah is the Forgiver and the Most Merciful.’’
Meaning of the verse:
God knows all deeds, and He counts them against you in order to reward for good deeds, and His punishment is severe for those who disobeyed Him.
Among the punishments of disobedience in this world are lack of success, wasting time, alienating people from, not answering prayers, hardening the heart, depriving oneself of blessing in one’s sustenance and life, depriving oneself of knowledge, insulting the enemy, and being afflicted with bad companions. Length of worry and grief.
There are punishments in the grave, wherein souls are blessed, and others are tormented, until the Day of Judgment.
The final judgment will be in the afterlife. So whoever has a good record of his deeds, he will be in Paradise. And whoever's record is full of sins and injustices will be punished according to his sins, until the fire of Hell purifies him. As for the unbelievers and polytheists, they will live forever in the Hell.

Where is God?

Some believe that heaven is the place where God dwells. Others think that God's abode is paradise.
God is everywhere at all times.
42 Bible Verses about God, Present Everywhere
Chronicles 2:6
But who is able to build a house for Him, for the heavens and the highest heavens cannot contain Him? So who am I, that I should build a house for Him, except to burn incense before Him?

https://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/God,-Present-Everywhere

The Islamic vision of the presence of God everywhere
Islam believes that God's existence is not limited by space and time. This is because God is not a body. He is not an accident limited by time. He does not occupy space or place and is not united with others.
God says:
He who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then willed to the Throne. He knows what penetrates the earth and all that emerges from it; all that descends from heaven and all that ascends to it. He is with you wherever you are. God is All-Seeing of what you do.’’

‘’Have you not seen that God knows what is in the heavens and what is on the earth? There is no secret talk between three but He is the fourth of them; nor between five but He is the sixth of them; nor between fewer or more but He is with them wherever they are. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will inform them of what they have done. Surely, Allah [God] has knowledge of all things.’’

This means that God is present everywhere and with every human being, but not in the sense of occupying space, rather what is meant is the universal encompassing.
It is clear that the human being does not reach the essence of this encompassing and this omnipotence, as the verse indicates the scientific awareness and the existential awareness, God Almighty is present, Hearing, All-Knowing.

How Big God Is?
When Scripture tells us about the power, wisdom, and eternal nature of God, how else could we describe him?
The Bible says; Isaiah 40:28
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.
The FSB says that the phrase “creator of the ends of the earth” points back to Isaiah 40:27. It states, “The focus on God as Creator and totally ‘other’ than His creation answers the statements of v. 27. Since God’s ways are unknowable, how can they make such a claim?”
We don’t know what God is thinking, so how can we say that he’s not thinking about us?
Psalm 147:5
Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.
Deuteronomy 10:17
For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and does not take a bribe.
Jack A. Keller says, “The supreme God who is ‘God of all gods’ and ‘Lord of all lords’ has a special interest in the way the community treats its most vulnerable members: widows, orphans, and resident aliens (10:17–19).”
The more we recognize how powerful and mighty God is, the more incredible it is that He cares for us personally.

The Quran says;
‘’Allah [God], there is no god except He, the Living, the Everlasting. Neither dozing, nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. Who is he that shall intercede with Him except by His permission! He knows what will be before their hands and what was behind them, and they do not comprehend anything of His Knowledge except what He willed. His Seat embraces the heavens and the earth, and the preserving of them does not weary Him. He is the High, the Great.’’

Psalm 145:18, ESV
‘’The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.’’
Psalm 34:18, ESV
‘’The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. God Is Always Near Me. To be near God is my happiness.’’

It is revealed in several verses of the Qur'an that Allah enfolds everywhere.
God says;
‘’Indeed, ˹it is˺ We ˹Who˺ created humankind and ˹fully˺ know what their souls whisper to them, and We are closer to them than ˹their˺ jugular vein.’’

From the Quran;
'Children of Adam, when Messengers of your own come to narrate to you My verses, those who are cautious and mend their ways will have nothing to fear neither shall they be saddened, but, those who belie and grow proud against Our verses shall be the inhabitants of the Fire, and there they shall remain for ever. Who is more harmful than he who invents a lie about Allah [God] or belies His verses? Such shall have their share of the Book, and when Our Messengers come to take them away, they shall say to them: 'Where now are those whom you invoked, other than Allah? 'They have forsaken us, ' they will answer, and will bear witness against themselves that they were unbelievers.'

Salvation
Way of the Jews for Salvation
Jews ask for forgiveness on Yom Kippur, their holiest day of the year.
After fasting for 26 hours. They celebrate the holiday and it is devoted to prayers asking for forgiveness and purification from sins, so that God may grant them a new beginning.
In Christianity
One of the conditions for confession is that a person confesses in his heart the mistake and confesses before God and before those who sinned against him, and confesses before the Father-priest, and at the same time cutting all ties of sin and its causes so as not to return to it, relying on the grace of the Lord God!
The Lord commanded to confess sin and offer a sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins (Leviticus 5:5-6).
The Church practices the sacrament of confession in front of the priest. Knowing that the only one who can forgive sins is God through the blood of Christ shed on the cross. When a person sins, he has to regret his sin, then confess it before the church, and then God forgives his sin. This is what the early Christians understood from the (Acts 19:18). The Church, represented by the apostles and the bishops behind them (Acts 20:28), was given this authority by the Lord Jesus: (Matthew 16:19). .
Repentance is the path of holiness
One of the clergymen summarized repentance as a decisive turning back from sin, followed by a holiness of life without failures after confession. And that the person's connection with Christ requires the holiness of the biography. This holiness requires great effort and continuity in not making mistakes. Repentance is a continuous and repeated action for life. Therefore, repentance means that a person is not able to get rid of sins by his will, but needs the help of the church, the priest, and the liturgy (Mark 3:28).
Islam's way of forgiveness of sins
A Muslim can repent of his sins by confessing them to himself without the need for a clergyman. This is done by seeking forgiveness and repenting of sins. Repentance is required to be sincere and not to be repeated. If the sin is the result of a wrongdoing against a person, he must first please that person and seek God’s forgiveness.
God said: (And whoever does evil or wrongs himself and then asks forgiveness of God will find God Forgiving).
One of the virtues of seeking forgiveness is also that it relieves the one who suffers from worries and grief, and God’s mercy covers him.
One of the conditions for the validity of repentance is that the seeking forgiveness of sins be with the reverence of the heart while seeking forgiveness. And remorse for what he did of sins and disobedience. The best time to seek forgiveness is during the night prayer, especially at the time of dawn. The Quran said: (They slept but a little at night, and at dawn would ask forgiveness).
One of the forms of seeking forgiveness in the Quran is: ('Lord, we believe in You, forgive us our sins and save us from the punishment of the Fire').

Through the Ages God Has Called Prophets to Lead Mankind
There have been prophets on the earth since the days of Adam. Moses, an Old Testament prophet, led thousands of his people out of Egypt and slavery to the promised land.
Scriptures
“Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7).
• (God speaks through prophets). Numbers 12:6 and Luke 1:70

Although only twenty-five prophets are mentioned by name in the Quran, there were 124,000 prophets in total throughout history.

Today is the last days of Ramadan, the month of fasting, Muslims proclaim the greatness of God at sunset. God Almighty said:
‘’Ramaḍân is the month in which the Quran was revealed as a guide for humanity with clear proofs of guidance and the standard ˹to distinguish between right and wrong˺. So whoever is present this month, let them fast. But whoever is ill or on a journey, then ˹let them fast˺ an equal number of days ˹after Ramaḍân˺. Allah [God] intends ease for you, not hardship, so that you may complete the prescribed period and proclaim the greatness of Allah for guiding you, and perhaps you will be grateful.’’
To proclaim the greatness of God Almighty the Muslims say (God is great) as a metaphor for his oneness in divinity. Then they perform the Eid "feast" prayer.
The Muslims fast is similar to the Christian fast before Easter

What are the good deeds that God commanded the believers to do?
Many verses of the Quran encourage doing good, such as helping the poor, helping the needy, supporting the oppressed, giving alms, feeding food to relatives and the wayfarer, good neighbourliness, honoring one’s parents, refraining from harming people and animals, removing harm from the road, and even smiling in a person’s face.
This includes everyone, regardless of their religious, ethnic or national affiliation.
Doing good raises the ranks of the believer, and brings him closer to his Lord. And adherence to doing good is a reason for man’s prosperity and success in many matters of his life, and this is evident through this verse: {O you who believe, bow down and prostrate yourselves. Worship your Lord, and do good, in order that you prosper}.
But will God be pleased with a person who calls for good deed and does not do it?
Whoever commands people to do something obligatory or forbids them to do something forbidden, then he himself violates it and does not fulfill the obligation, and does not avoid the forbidden thing, then this is reprehensible because his action went against his saying, God said: ‘’O Believers, why do you say what you never do? Do you command people to be righteous and forget yourselves while you are reciting the Book? It is most hateful to Allah that you should say that which you do not do.’’
Is it the greatest abhorrence in the sight of God that the man says what he does not do?

"How People Become Atheists"

One sound way, if they become enlightened/disillusioned.

Some writers believe that one of the common reasons for atheism is learning more about other religious traditions, so a person may adopt a more critical attitude towards his religion, and may reject it. Or a person may grow up and discover an unjust, hypocritical, or evil cleric. As a result of this he becomes critical of religion too.
Science also has a role, as it provided explanations for aspects that were the preserve of religion. Because scientific explanations make sense and are easier than religious explanations, some people have rejected religion.
Some writers also played an important role in publishing philosophical arguments that some considered successful in refuting most of the common concepts of gods. For example, many atheists believe that the existence of evil makes belief in a merciful, all-powerful God unreasonable.
In some cases, the person may become critical of all religions and criticize the belief in the existence of any gods and God.
In conclusion, one of the most dangerous things facing a person’s psychological life and disturbing his stability and reassurance is losing his faith in God, because faith in God is what gives meaning to this life. And whoever loses his faith in God loses the basic essence that makes him feel his value and purpose in life.

From the Quran:
‘Consider˺ the Day Allah [God] will gather the messengers and say, “What response did you receive?” They will reply, “We have no knowledge ˹compared to You˺! You ˹alone˺ are indeed the Knower of all unseen.”
And ˹on Judgment Day˺ Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary! Remember My favour upon you and your mother: how I supported you with the holy spirit1 so you spoke to people in ˹your˺ infancy and adulthood. How I taught you writing, wisdom, the Torah, and the Gospel. How you moulded a bird from clay—by My Will—and breathed into it and it became a ˹real˺ bird—by My Will. How you healed the blind and the lepers—by My Will. How you brought the dead to life—by My Will. How I prevented the Children of Israel from harming you when you came to them with clear proofs and the disbelievers among them said, “This is nothing but pure magic.”
And how I inspired the disciples, “Believe in Me and My messenger!” They declared, “We believe and bear witness that we fully submit ˹to Allah˺.”

How People Become Atheists
Testing three theories of religious non-belief.
KEY POINTS
Religion is a human universal. Every society that has ever existed has had some form of organized religion that has dominated its culture and often its government as well. For this reason, many psychologists believe we have an innate tendency toward religious belief.
And yet, in every society, there have also been those who have rejected the religious teachings of their upbringing.
If religiosity—the tendency toward religious belief of some sort—is innate, as many psychologists have speculated, then how can we account for such a large number of non-believers? This is the question that British psychologist Will Gervais and his colleagues explored in a study they recently published in the journal Social Psychological and Personality Science.
Why Is Religion Nearly Universal?
According to Gervais and colleagues, there are three major theories explaining the seeming universality of religious belief. Each of these also has an account for how some people become atheists.
Secularization theory
According to this view, religion arose to serve new social needs as humans developed civilization. For instance, it helped enforce morality by inventing ever-watching gods that punished misbehavior in the next life if not this one. It also provided a means of assuaging existential concerns of the common people—that is, the worries we all have about the health and happiness of ourselves and our loved ones. It’s comforting to know that a god is looking after our best interests.
Secularization theory also formulates a prediction about how people become atheists by examining the so-called “post-Christian” trend of Western Europe since the last half of the twentieth century. As these countries have developed robust social safety nets, universal health care, and a stable middle class, religious attendance and affiliation have dropped precipitously. According to this view, a government that provides for the good of the people needs no divine sanction. And because the people no longer have existential concerns, they have no need for religion either.
Cognitive byproduct theory
It contends that religion arose from innate thought. Humans are very good at intuiting the thoughts and emotions of others, and it’s this “mind-reading” ability that makes us so successful as a cooperative social species. But this ability is “hyperactive,” leading us to also “read the minds” of inanimate objects or hypothetical unseen actors.
By this account, any self-reports of atheism only go “skin deep,” in that non-believers would have to actively suppress their innate religious feelings at all times. As is often said during war, “There are no atheists in the foxholes.” Such an attitude is based on the assumption that religiosity is innate.
Cognitive byproduct theory predicts that some people become atheists because they have strong analytical thinking skills, which they use to critically evaluate their religious beliefs.
Dual inheritance theory
It maintains that religious belief comes from a combination of genetic and cultural influences, hence the name. According to this view, we may have an innate tendency toward religious belief of some sort, but specific beliefs have to be inculcated during early childhood.
While dual inheritance theory recognizes the existence of innate religious intuitions, it also maintains that those intuitions need to be triggered by actual religious experiences. Thus, it proposes that people become atheists when they aren’t exposed to religious beliefs or practices as children.
If Religion Is Universal, Why Are There Atheists?
To test which theory best predicts how people become atheists, Gervais and colleagues collected data from over 1400 adults who composed a representative sample of the American population. These participants responded to questions intended to measure their degree of religious belief as well as the various proposed pathways to religious disbelief. These included feelings of existential security (secularization theory), analytical thinking ability (cognitive byproduct theory), and exposure to religious practices in childhood (dual inheritance theory).
The results showed that only one of the three proposed pathways strongly predicted atheism. Almost all of the self-identified atheists in this sample indicated that they had grown up in a home without religion.
In hindsight, this finding is unsurprising. After all, Catholics are fond of saying that if they have a child till seven, they have him for life. And while it’s not uncommon for people to switch from their childhood religion to a different faith in adulthood, it’s rare indeed for a person raised without religion to adopt one later in life.
Those who gave up their religion later in life invariably showed strong analytical thinking skills. Nevertheless, plenty of religious people displayed this ability as well. In other words, just because you’re good at thinking logically, this doesn’t mean you’ll necessarily abandon your religious beliefs.
Most surprising to the researchers was that they found no support for secularization theory. The post-Christian tendency in Western Europe has long been held up as a model for how not just individuals but entire societies can become atheist. But the data from this study suggest that the secularization process may be more complex than originally thought.
A Two-Step Process for Losing Your Faith
Gervais and colleagues propose a two-step model in the case of Western Europe. In the devastation that followed World War II, the post-war generation lost faith in the legitimacy of the Church as the defender of morality and the protector of the people. Since they stopped actively practicing their faith, their children grew up without religion and became atheists, just as the dual-inheritance model predicts.
I suspect there’s another reason why this particular study failed to find support for secularization theory. The theory contends that the purpose of religion is to assuage existential worries, but when the government provides womb-to-tomb social safety nets, religion is no longer needed.
In sum, humans may have an innate tendency toward religion, but this doesn’t mean that people will develop religious beliefs on their own if not exposed to them in childhood. Religion provides comfort for people in an uncertain and frightening world, and yet we also see that when the government provides for the welfare of the people, they no longer need religion. Given the track record in Western Europe over the last half-century, it’s clear that governments can placate the existential concerns of the masses far more effectively than the Church ever did.
