even in things where your required to be picked i always expect to be picked last i guess because thats all i have known. then you tell yourself your not good enough anyway and end up cutting yourself off from others. only responding if spoken to, feeling out of place everywhere.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin fared very well under socialist mayors for a number of years. The common people of Venezuela did well during Chavez's tenure. And the poor were much better off after the overthrow of the Batista regime.

I hate to inject a little rationality into this wonderful mudslinging, but:

1) Socialism, historically, has never worked. The current best examples are Venezuela and Cuba. From each according to his means, to each according to his needs appears to contradict human nature.

2) The Quran's statement that Muslims are free to use violence against non-Muslims is, to my mind, disgusting. AFAIK, violence, except in self-defense, is criminal everywhere. To paraphrase Isaac Asimov, violence is the last resort of the incompetent. (If memory serves, that sentiment is expressed, by Salvor Hardin, somewhere in the early part of The Foundation Trilogy.)

I don't know about anyone else, but for me, I grew out of calling people names when I had no decent argument against them before I left school!

I am not sure why im posting this bit nevertheless i am doing this. Im Poulomi 24. I am married and stay in Bangalore working as a teacher with hubby working in dubai. Lately i have lost confidence in myself and my body maybe being deprived of a companion. Just think out of the box. You can be PO which I totally understand, but that won't help nor get rid of this mayor.

I do feel for you and all the others in NYC in similar situations. I too have a very small budget so getting something like that rammed down your throat is more than tough. I wouldn't have the means to deal with it either.

What I do not understand how someone can just do that. Over here we have nation-wide laws. Cities/towns have a little leeway with certain things, but not with raising taxes etc.
