I don't hate Christmas...I hate what it's become. It originally was a Pagan holiday called "Yule", which is a word still used today. But when Christianity took a huge sweep and became a major religion it became Christmas, and was celebrated as the day of Christ's birth (the Church is actually uncertain of the actual date). We give gifts to loved ones as a representation of the three wise men giving gifts to Christ. Same with Easter, which was actually called "Ostara". It was a celebration of the re-birth of the earth, the planting of new crops. But yet again, Christianity took it as Easter, and used that to represent Christ's ressurection (because again, the Church is uncertain of the actual date). Don't get me wrong, I'm not insulting or disrespecting the Church or anyone at all. I'm just saying I wish the holidays could go back to what they were meant to be... Just a celebration, a time to be with the ones you love. All back before greed and profit played a major part in our holidays.  exactly !! why does commercialism have to rear it`s ugly little head in every aspect of our lives ??

Doncha love how friendly Richard Petty is? He was here at Topekas awhile back, posing for pics with my niece and just a cool guy. That pic was taken when I was 17. He was supposed to leave that place at 5pm, but he was there until like 11pm because he wanted to make sure everyone got an autograph and picture. He really doesn't like disappointing his fans. It was awsome to meet the King, though. |

I was not aware of a cooties vaccination! It's required to have one these days if your roommate is female...I guess it reduces the risks of transfering cooties via the toilet seat. |
