 How important is intellectual compatibility in a relationship?
 Do most people look for mates that are of similar intelligence to themselves?
Oh hell yes, it's hella important to me... without fail it always turns out that the person of less intellect (no matter how wonderful they are) feels inferior to [not only their partner, but also others of] higher intellect. Some even lash out, or try to make others feel guilty for having a stronger intellect. It's just hard to maintain an active, insightful, humorous, quipping, creative, thought-provoking dialog (or lifestyle, or hobbies, or interests) with someone who gets frustrated because everything is out of their comfort zone. I've dated enough people who have been as such, and at this point I just can't take anymore of explaining every other word I've just said. I mean, DAMN! How simple can one be? I realize that other qualities are important to people, but it'd be just a bit one-sided and off center if only one person bares the brunt of the brain in a relationship... in my opinion, intellect can help enhance some of those other good qualities that some people possess. Geez, I hope there aren't too many typographical errors... I don't feel like spell checking today, I'm on a roll! (well that, plus I'm multi-tasking, and also talking to my bf...whom I thank often for being a smart lil' devil) |
