When the ORIGINAL ECW was around back in the day, ROB VAN DAM would've destroyed anyone.

End of discussion!

I'm wondering where all their fighters are going to go now. I was looking forward to seeing Nick Diaz Vs. Eddie Alvarez and Robbie Lawler Vs. Joey Villasenior.

Affliction would benefit from picking up some of the fighters' contracts. That is if EliteXC doesn't screw them over. Hopefully Affliction will add a Womens division. I'd pay to see Gina Carano Vs. Cyborg on PPV, 4sure!

I wouldn't be suprised if Diaz & Alvarez go to Japan and fight in DREAM. Diaz got along with the promoters when he represented EliteXC during DREAM's Welterweight Grand Prix.

"The Dark Knight"... end of topic.

i personally am begging for no penguin and a very dark riddler, and maybe even no cat woman. that is what ruined the previous batman movie series is that it went from being batman to this campy plasticy stupid embarrassing film. keep it dark, keep it heavy. the last 2 have been pure genious.

Christopher Nolan brings an element of reality to his Batman world. What worked with "The Dark Knight" was the fact that it wasn't campy.

Tim Burton's 1989 "Batman" was campy. Sure, it worked AT THAT TIME, but doesn't hold a candle to the latest Batman films Nolan has given us.

If Nolan does bring in the Riddler, Penguin or even Catmwoman... you can expect it to be nothing like Tim Burton's or Joel Shumachers feeble attempt of a good Bat-film.

johnny depp would kick ass as the riddler...

I think he could pull off a pretty kick ass Penguin, too... winking

(And I'd like to see Angelina Jolie as Catwoman!)

Kate Beckinsale has publicly expressed interest in playing Catwomam, if the character was ever introduced that is.

I don't know that I want to see the Riddler. I really don't want to see the Penguin pulling bird capers. What other Bat-Villians can we use?

In recent Batman comics, the Penguin is portrayed as more of an illegal arms dealer who just happens to wear a top hat. No way Christopher Nolan would try to do the Penguin like the way Danny Devito did in "Batman Returns".

Just heard about that, too. EliteXC just dug a hole for themselves, no matter which way you look at it.

Luckily, SHOWTIME is looking to buy EliteXC outright from ProElite Inc. Perhaps they'll make some changes of some sort, like a better female reporter for their CBS broadcasts.

God I hope I'm not the only one who thinks she's horrible.

So, if you've been hearing rumors of a 3rd Batman film with Johnny Depp playing "The Riddler" or Philip Seymore Hoffman as "The Penguin"... it's ALL RUMORS!

David S. Goyer, co-screenwriter of "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" gave an interview to MTVnews.com stating that all the casting rumors being circulated in the media "It's all B.S., all of it."

"Chris [Nolan] and I haven't even talked about it. He quite understandably is taking a long, long vacation and wants to purge himself."

He does admit though they have loosely discussed themes and ideas - "We have mused here and there [but] I mean Chris is pretty much a one film at a time kind of director. I wish I could tell you more. There really isn't anything to tell."

Will we ever know? "If and when [Chris is] ready to talk - we'll talk," Goyer promises.

Jay's note; And there you have it. UNTIL Christopher Nolan is back on as DIRECTOR of a 3rd Batman film, don't believe any and all Batman 3 rumors.

So you enjoy the show but you think this season is retarded?

Make up your melon. Someone told me Anderson Silva was going to be brought in by Big Nog(Nogiuera) to help train his fighters.

I don't think that's retarded.

Found this pretty funny video of Sir Emelienenko backstage after he defeated Mark Coleman in the opening round of the Pride Heavyweight Grand Prix.

Coleman was mighty pissed off that he lost, as you'll see. But wait 'til the very end where Fedor meets up with Kevin Randleman and asks him what he drinks. Might want to turn up the volume since Fedor is pretty soft spoken.

Enjoy!

Well it was the "upset" of the night, too bad it wasn't Shamrock pulling it off.

My girl, Ms. Carano still looking beautiful as ever. Hopefully she and "Cyborg" will do battle, soon.

I called Arlovski in 2. I knew I should've bet some poor sucker. That was dope of Affliction to allow he and Nelson to fight in EliteXC.

And Jake Shields holding it down for Team Cesar Gracie, woot-woot! Paul Daley put up a fight, though.

But the fighter who impressed me the most was Benji Radach. That guys disipline is "Facesmashing-Fu." I'm still scratching my head over that, but it sure as hell worked for him when beating the snot out of Ninja Rua.

Overall, I thought this was a pretty decent show that EliteXC was able to put together. Ken Shamrock getting cut might have been a blessing in disguise. With Kimbo getting knocked out in a mere 14 seconds in the 1st round, people are still talking about it and I think EliteXC can use this kind of exposure if they want to continue to be a major MMA promotion. It also helps that Affliction was willing to co-promote with them. That can only be good for the sport.

I think KIMBO is OVERRATED! I will go with the OLD Shamrock!

What time is this on?

It's on a tape delay, but it's on at 9pm.

Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson vs. Ken Shamrock
(For some reason, I kinda want to call this the upset of the night. I'm curious as to how Kimbo would fare against Shamrock on the ground. But then again, Shamrock is like 50 years old. If they stay standing, Kimbo in 1)

EliteXC Welterweight Championship
Jake Shields vs. Paul Daley
(Paul Daley is the Cage Rage Welter. champ, he's no slouch. But Shields has been on a tear and looks to improve his status as a Top 10 Welterweight. Shields is a part of Team Cesar Gracie... enough said. He'll look to take Daley to the ground and test his Jiu-Jitsu. Shields in 1)

Affliction Fight
Andrei Arlovski vs. Roy Nelson
(Roy Nelson was the former IFL Champion, which isn't really saying much. His only loss in the IFL was to Ben Rothwell. And if you saw Arlovski vs. Rothwell back in July, this should be a cake-walk for the Pit-Bull. Andrei in 2)

Gina Carano vs. Kelly Kobald
(Oh Gina Gina Gina, the ex-wife of my dreams! I dare not bet against her since my knowledge of womens MMA is still novice-like. However, this could be the fight of the nite. Thems women fight harder than the men. Gina in 2)

Benji Radach vs. Murilo "Ninja" Rua
(Don't know much about Radach. I'll go with "Ninja" in 3 because he's "Shogun's" brother.)

You two are gay... for each other.

Anyways, check out this fight that Sir Emelianenko was in with Kazuyuki Fujita. It's the ONLY time I've ever seen him stumble. But like the true champion he is, he recovers and ends it in awesome fashion.

It's from PRIDE 26: Bad to The Bone.

My first thought was Fedor making Dana White his beeeatch...

Then I stopped laughing. Dana White knows that this competition (ie: Affliction and EliteXC) is good for both the sport and the fans. But thats not what he really wants. He wants that monopoly. and that is why he can suckacack, as we say back east.

edit: fackin filter devil

Well put, sir.

Hopefully EliteXC & Affliction can make turn this into a growing trend for other MMA promotions to co-promote.

I got Arlovski over Nelson in 2. You heard it here, first. :P

Why would Dana not want Affliction?

You kidding me?

Because he's a money grubbin' tool who only wants the UFC to be associated with MMA. In his world, if you're not in the UFC you're not a top fighter.

UFC to oppose Affliction's 2nd event by changing UFC 93's name to UFC 94 and newly scheduleing a new UFC 93 in Ireland 2 weeks before UFC 94 - superbowl weekend...

Rich Franklin could meet Dan Henderson Jan. 17 at UFC 93, according MMAjunkie.com

So far the cards for January 17th look like...

Affliction: Day of Reckoning. PPV (prelims on HDnet, damn you Mark Cuban!)

Main card;
Fedor Emelianenko vs. TBA
Andrei Arlovski vs. Josh Barnett
Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
Matt Lindland vs. Trevor Prangley
Chris Horodecki(yaaaay!) vs. Dan Lauzon
Ben Rothwell vs. Pedro Rizzo
Drew Fickett vs. Jay Hieron
Antonio Duarte vs. Albert Rios

Prelim;
Paul Buentello vs. Roy Nelson
Jason High vs. Mike Pyle
Chase Gormley vs. Jay Whit

UFC 93. most likely on Spike

Rich Franklin vs. TBA (possibly Dan Henderson)

Once again, Dana White thinks he can steal the show and audience away. I'll watch both, but I'll pay to watch Fedor fight.

Thoughts?
