*the orb shimmers and the spell is absorbed*
Well done, just for reference, this was a training situation, had this been actual combat, your spell count would have gone down by one. |

(( For those of you just tuning in, there are two characters being used here, so to spare you the confusion, is when Ifritius is speaking, and is when Barbus is talking.))

*Ifritius takes the staff, and sits down for a moment, you see him pull a magic stone out of his pouch, and with some unicorn's hair, affixes it to the end of the staff*
There you are, this stone is charged with "Magic Missile" you now have a magical weapon. All you have to do is point the staff at whom ever you are attacking and with a little concentration, a charge of "Magic Missile" will hit your opponant. *The staff contains 5 charges per day, and will recharge on its own daily, does 2d6 damage* I will have you try this out now *hands the staff back to Cleo, and casts "orb of protection" around himself.* ok, now try and hit me. Do not worry, you won't hurt me at all. oh, I almost forgot, any spell that requires concentration can be dispelled by a distraction, so if someone were to interrupt you while casting would be able to stop you from delivering the blow. |

Cleo, may I see that quarter staff of yours for a moment?

maybe we could balance a door instead lol.
As for your question, miss gnome, maybe hand to hand combat is not for you, have you tried using a cross bow, or bow and arrow? Ranged attacks may come in handy. Possibly learn an offensive spell or two, I could show you how to cast that one I used on the training dummie a minute ago, always hits, and does some damage too. |

yes, manners would be nice, I may know an etiquette instructor, it would be funny watching that beast balance a book on his head.

Barbus hands Idara a new weapon.
*Idara recieves The Devil's Tounge, a black dagger that absorbs 1hp per attack, and gives the power to its user.* I picked this up along my travels, it should suit you well, each time you use this part of your enemy's life force will be drained and you shall recieve the energy. *note, if you had not lost hp, no energy is gained, only if you are below 100% shall the points be gained.* |
|
|
|
Idara, how are you doing over there? would you like to join us?

Please, I am no master yet, just call me Barbus, for I am still learning everyday too.

Another tip, drawing a weapon, or changing a weapon takes time, so if you want to change from a sword, to a dagger for close up combat, you forefeit your turn due to the time spent switching weapons, but you will be eligable for attack the next time your turn comes up.
It is my pleasre teaching you, any questions? I shall be here for a while. |

After observing a group of adventurers, I have seen that some of them, I won't mention who was "swinging at the rats" treat a combat situation like a game of pool, and call your shot, you will more likely hit your selected target.
*Summons 3 Rats* *Draws Daggers* Attacks Rat in the center, stabs at rats chest. you need to tell the story teller who/what you are attacking, then how you are attacking. *Rat in the center dies, and dissappears* *selects rat on the left* Casting Magic Missile. *Rat on left dies and dissappears* For some magical attacks, you do not have to call a shot, just select the enemy it is intended for. Thank you for your help rats. *the final rat tips his hat and dissappears* |
