... "For Whom the Bell Tolls", and it's given me an interesting view of women from different times/cultures. For those who don't know, it's set in Spain in the 30's. Anyway, so the girl, Maria, is always told to go away while others are talking and she's always being treated like a child, but she seems to enjoy it... she acts as though it's a compliment, or at least that it's proper. She also always says she's ugly because her hair isn't long (she was a prisoner for a while and had her head shaved), but that she'll be pretty again when it grows out. My question here is, when did women begin to feel badly treated? When did we decide that being treated like a child wasn't proper and right? I'm VERY curious about this? The second you are feeling treated badly, that is when it happens. Why do we let this happen to us? ![]() |

I'm not, but Dan is. Let's all celebrate Dan's Englishness with...oh heck, I don't know...let's all get our pinstripe suits and umbrellas or something. Part English, but mostly German...I love the German part because you don't have to be so damn formal. ![]() ![]() |

I wish I could tell you that eventually she'll trip up and get herself gone, but it's not always true. Sometimes people like that seem to have the most absurd luck, getting away with that behavior time and time again. How comfortable are you with the idea of going over her head and talking with her supervisor? Are they approachable? In essence, this woman is creating a hostile work environment for everyone involved. You have the right - by law - to complain and not have retaliation. Allowing it to continue would be a violation on the part of HER supervisor(s), and could open them up to serious issues down the road. Unfortunatly, she has her nose so far up the CEO's ***, it's hard to tell them apart ![]() The rest of us in the department are just trying to give her enough rope and hope for the best. I am a firm believer that what goes around, comes around....and I want to sell tickets for that event...LOL |

....a nasty, snide boss?
Due to the recent economic fiasco (Thanks Obamanation), we had a hiring freeze and a particular person's job went away. Rather than letting things fall as they may be, she was appointed to be the head of our department (with no experience) and our director was stripped of his authority. Since that time, this person has totally let the power go to her head and is THE most vile person to all of us that have been in the department for years, yet putting on the nines for anyone else within the company. I refuse to let her get the best of me, but this person blows in and out of the office without speaking to any of us. When she does, it's like a Linda Blair moment as she spews so much nasty. I have always been taught that you keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. I have been overly sweet when she is around and when other employees come to me with issues, I go out of my way to share laughs and create a pleasant experience because I know that it bugs her. Any creative suggestions (other than praying that she gets hit by a bus) how to set her up for failure? ![]() |

Be cautious NOT to read into a situation...You may be getting the wrong message and get all embarrased because the other person is touchy feely. Let it go for awhile to get the full perspective of the situation.

Kind of sad how everything was so mis-managed with such a lucrative career...just goes to show you how an intravert is vulnerable to so many vultures....and the rest of the family hopes to gain from their loss. Wow...so much for loving their child and sibling....it's already crazy, nuts!

It's so sad that families can't pull together and let the material things take precendence...
This is certainly going to be a circus. Should be entertaining at best and we have to listen to all of that smack in the media. |

Have you read the news about the MJ estate? WOW...that family will end up in court and all ties will be ripped apart. It's amazing how families seemingly pull together in times of crisis, but when it comes down to it, greed take precedence. ![]() And these people aren't really in a need of money to begin with. I could understand if they would be starving for a couple of days and have no income and their houses being almost foreclosed, but as we all know they aren't in such a situation. No doubt...this squabble is going to be in the news for the next year or more. The 2002 Last Will and Testament excluded Dad....this aught to be a hoot! Poor little rich people....pffffft! |
