Obama is an excellent public speaker. A genuine cult of personality.

I was just watching the Republican response to his speech. Obama needs to stop being nice to the Republicans and use his Democratic advantage and get er done as far as I am concerned. He is trying too damn hard to bring a group in that cannot be brought in. Just do it, man. And they talked of their form of healthcare reform and it is basically nothing new. Nothing at all. They do not want to change it. Their only defense is to put a price on life. They are saying that the cost of saving lives is too much. It is actually less than the war in Iraq and that saved how many lives? Is still saving how many lives? Sheesh, just get it worked out and passed already. He doesn't need the Republicans. He is much too nice in my opinion. |

White House Debunks Reports It Will Fly China's Flag on South Lawn A ceremony, indeed, will take place. But it won't happen on the White House grounds -- rather, on the Ellipse, on the other side of E Street from the presidential residence By Wendell Goler FOXNews.com Friday, September 04, 2009 The White House on Friday dismissed as inaccurate reports from China that the administration will mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic by flying the Chinese flag on the South Lawn. China Daily, citing other media reports, claimed the president of the Fujian Association of the United States had been granted permission to hoist the flag "in a ceremony in front of the President's residence." A ceremony, indeed, will take place. But it won't happen on the White House grounds -- rather, on the Ellipse, on the other side of E Street from the presidential residence. China Daily's report -- which said the flag would represent strong U.S.-Chinese relations and recognition of China's success in hosting the 2008 Summer Olympics -- set off howls of protest on the Internet and among conservative talk show hosts despite failing to receive confirmation from the White House. Demonstrations by foreign groups on the Ellipse or in Lafayette Park, in front of the White House, are not uncommon. But foreign flags are only flown on the White House grounds or on Pennsylvania Avenue to mark "state" or "official" visits of the countries' leaders. Under those guidelines, the Chinese flag has flown on White House grounds before, in April of 2006, when President Hu Jintao visited then President George W. Bush. In fact the current controversy is reminiscent of that visit. The Chinese insisted it was a state visit, despite U.S. assurances it was only an official one. The "state visit" label would have implied a bigger honor to Hu and to China, but Bush only had a handful of state visits and Hu's wasn't one of them. Still, Chinese media continued to report it was a state visit even after it was over. And they continue now to report that the Fujian Association rally will take place on the White House lawn, even though U.S. officials insist it will not. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/04/white-house-debunks-reports-fly-chinas-flag-south-lawn/ |

I dont dislike the man. I dislike his ideals. I dont even know him. I cant stand what you stand for Dragoness. I dont hate you. Alot of people of a different color did not like Bush were they racist? I never once thought they were. Even though it is possible that some of them were. If they use racial slurs or the like then there you have it. But simply to disagree with him we cannot make a blanket statement regarding there intentions. Thats dirty pool. Wrong for me wrong for you. Be fair. Be honest with yourself.

Obama stated that if the stimulus passed unemployment would not go above 8%. Did he lie or was he just wrong? End result is the same. I think he lied.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqcPA1ysSbw While some of the ideas are good, I will never pledge to serve our president! He is a public servant. Not the other way around. This is my only pledge!! I PLEDGE ALLEGIANGE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS ONE NATION UNDER GOD,INDIVISIBLE WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL. Since utube takes forever, I don't watch them. What pledge are you referring to? A pledge made by holly wood stars to change theiir ways and do better for the world. A couple of them pledged to serve Obama. Serve Obama doing what? I have signed pledges in the past to fund or volunteer for a project, it's to show that I was serious and not just thinking about it. That's not pledging the way you guys are fantasizing. Y'all are getting really way out there. lol Who is getting out there? I just posted something about pledging to do things to make our country and the world better. And I said some of them are good ideas. Some said they pledge to serve Obama. I said I would never serve him. He is the public servant not the other way around! I think it's just out there to think it's some kind of scarey thing when it's not, and yes most of it is good from what I read of it. I wasn't really responding to your not wanting to serve Obama. He knows he is a public servant and has said so. that shouldn't prevent him from wanting people to do whatever they want to promote or volunteer... Oh well we have been all over this months ago, so I'll just move on. |

Fact no other president has done this. I have no idea what he is going to say. I am concerned as I would be if it were any president. Children cannot grasp politics fully most adults have issues doing the same(myself included). It reminds me of how some dictators have done in other countries. I hope I am wrong. Maybe as with anything adults should watch first then decide. Both Presidents George Bush and Ronald Reagan both gave speeches aimed specifically at students that were nationally televised. In 1989, Bush delivered a televised anti-drug speech, and Reagan's 1986 commencement speech and Q&A session was "beamed over public television into 171 school districts," according to the L.A. Times. ![]() Its ok to disagree I just frustrated that people well take as simple as a speech to children and turn into a Orwellian plot. Were these speeches directed specifcally to students and shown only in schools? - yes Were they made to be shown in all schools? - If I have to guess, probably not but was suggested - like how it was suggested that this should be sown (BTW some school are showing it and some are not and the ones that are showing it are still leaving it up to the teachers for the final word) |
