Prohibition of alcohol was tried, remember? DISASTROUS failure. No sense going there again. Agreed. I just wanted, for the sake of an interesting debate, to see what people thought. Pitting alcohol against pot makes it more black and white, and hence a more clearly defined discussion. Screw democrat and republican, this is way more interesting!

seems to me that people consume alcohol without necessarily the intention of becoming impaired. I cook with it all the time. It seems as tho the point of 420 is to become impaired. Why would I support the use of something used to become impaired over the other? You've never heard of using pot medicinally? It can be used as a topical pain reliever like bengay, in fact in co ops in our city those products are already sold to medical patients. I cook with it in small amounts, as well as good old fashioned smoking it in small doses. I don't use it to be impaired, more as an informed self-medication. As a vet who has sought treatment (psychiatric and pharmacological) for post-traumatic stress and been on some fairly harsh, albeit government-approved meds... Pot is less psychologically harmful as well as not being a lab-grown chemical cocktail that sucks the joy out of life. I cook with wine and liqueurs too, but the amount of alcohol left after reduction or what have you is so small that (as you already know) you can feed it to kids. |

Personally...I like my 420 and would prefer that over a drink anyday so....legalize the Green and get the drunk drivers OFF the road eh, :) Absolutely. Stoned drivers are heading very slowly for the nearest drive-thru window or 7-11. Or too high to leave the house and ordering pizza! I have yet to meet a stoner who drives aggressively and over the speed limit like drunks.

Alright people. If you had to choose between the legality and taxation of either alcohol or pot (but not both), which side do you choose and why? This thread will probably die, but I want to open up a discussion about it. At least semi-seriously anyway.

I have not experienced misery this acute since that time I accidentally ran Pauly Shore over 17 times and he remained infuriatingly not dead. Honestly, OIF, I miss Israel. I could never see myself living in Saudi Arabia. Ever. No matter how hard I tried. Completely understandable! Saudi Arabia is a terrible place for women.
