That which is missing from the Wal-Mart pronouncements is that
Wal-Mart does everything based on sweet-heart tax breaks. And that includes federal subsidies to train new hires, and tax breaks from each jurisdiction that the stores are located. Once the subsidies run out, WalMart will threaten, and has done so, to move the store 5 miles away, leaving an empty building. So, to hire the Vets, great, but let's be honest. WalMart is taking advantage of federal subsidies to do so, yet crowing like roosters as if they were the one's who are saving the world. C'mon, read between the lines and be honest about Wally World. They ain't now friend of the common man. |

Used to be a date was going out on a wholesome activity, maybe a picnic, dinner, movie, or something that really was fun. Seems like anymore, "date" has come to imply sexual relations. How about a "date" that does not mean jumping in the sack? |

Labeling all those who live out on the streets homeless is social euphemism.
Those people are out there for various reasons. Those reasons should be addressed individually, for there is no one size fits all solutions. And, believe it or not, there are those who chose to live out there. That segment are not bums or panhandlers, but are a segment that has chosen the shun the rat race, and try to live somewhat more primitive within the concrete jungle. They bother no one, and usually are doing recyclables and such. And yet, in my old home town, I have actually watched a shift change of sorts of freeway offramp panhandlers. Was actually shocked to witness that. They were working basically 4 hr. shifts. So, there are many reasons that people are out there. One size fits all euphemistic names do nothing to address those needs. Some need help, not money. And some are bums. Just got to sort 'em out one at a time. |

Burnt by fire....he got too close to a propane heater and it caught his pants on fire..2nd and 3rd degree burns from the knee up..won't let me take care of him..says he tough..MEN!!! Going top ring his fool neck!!! I'm glad Billy has you this Christmas. Been there-lived through it. Gasoline fire Aug 87. Infection is the major issue, and is more likely to cause death than the burn itself. No matter how tough you are, them injuries hurt. Even more so through the healing process. And have to live with some limitations every day (lots of sunscreen, floppy hats, long sleeves, even in summer. So, here's to praying that his injuries are not so severe. |

Call me old-fashioned - and as well as being both eccentric and wacky, I suppose I am - but I have always believed that a lady should be treated with the utmost courtesy, consideration and respect at all times. Should I be shot?

Have had quite a few from Ghana, Nigeria, and Kenya?
First claim to be somewhere in the states, then admit to not being in the states. Then they are somewhere in Africa on some sort of humanitarian thing. Then comes the sob story about their tragically deceased family. Then....gee...send money for the phone, or food, or help bribe the officials who have confiscated the passport/visa. Sometimes great fun to play with when things are slow  , and sometimes a total aggravation .
