We should send all those bums to mexico till they earn something in their lives, there they can make and smoke their "420"
Ive had enough of these people ruining the lives of everyone, then taking them into their shelters...
Its almost as though salvation army, intentionally makes their prisoners victims, so they can lose their homes, get raped, get depressed, hooked on drugs, and forced to pay all their money to drugs, which little people know, most likely come from the people in control of the salvation army.

Maybe you dont know but i used to be homeless, and I sat and watched as criminals climbed the hierarchy of the salvation army,
took loyal soldiers, brainwashed them, robbed them and ruined their lives.

Ever think of that collection jar you seen at the mall to donate to salvation army? That money is used for crime and I have proof, every homeless at the salvation army gets 4 dollars per day, and this never changes. I say give them what the government says they deserve, or else NOTHING.

Dont allow criminals to work in a placelike this they are pulling us under and want to make us their slaves...

Well i'm confused....is this about homelessness as Christmas is knocking on our door? Or a rant about the Salvos and various 'undesirables'?

the salvation army isnt the only homeless resource and not all salvation army locations or employees are criminals

everyone needs help sometimes, and not everyone has their own resources to turn to when that happens (family, friends, friends of family,,etc,,,)

there is also a long process to 'getting a job' in which people still have biological necessities like food and shelter

its a shame that there are those who take advantage of the homeless, it is inevitable in a world of human beings that some lowlifes find their way into all professions and undertakings

but I dont see that as reason to turn a blind eye to the truly needy when we are able to help them in any way

You make a wildly outrageous claim about the Salvation Army, and then you don't provide any evidence to support your claim.

How pathetic that is.

Apparently this guy couldn't cut in the salvation army.

Obviously completely one-sided BS

Can't save them all....

But there is hope that people will not give up on compassion.

Other night this Bum said he would tell me a joke for a buck. I said alright, let's hear it. He gave me the option of a "G' rated or "R" rated joke. I chose the "G" rated joke. Can't remember how it went, but it was silly and funny, so I gave the guy a dollar. Hey....at least he entertained me and he probably needed that dollar more than I did.

For the record, there is a difference between a person being an employee of a Salvation Army emergency shelter and a person being a member of the Salvation Army. A person can be an employee without ever being a member.

As it turns out, I used to be both. I used to be an employee of the Salvation Army's emergency shelter in Tulsa, during which time I dealt with homeless people on a daily basis.

It was not uncommon for me to encounter a homeless man who didn't want to follow the rules in order to stay in the shelter overnight or in order to obtain long-term assistance.

Suppose that a bad situation were to occur in a particular emergency shelter owned and operated by the Salvation Army. Would such an occurrence in that particular shelter mean that there is corruption in every emergency shelter owned and operated by the Salvation Army? No, of course not.

For administrative purposes, the Salvation Army is divided into territories, each being under the jurisdiction of a different senior Salvation Army officer. Something bad could occur in one territory without it occurring in all territories.

Lol apparently you have worked at the salvation army yet have never seen them all, for example the ones were people get stabbed at daily, have homicides by the month, and the ones where they put 10 or so people in 1 room, so that when people fall asleep and money fall out of their pockets, theres always a crack addict watching who is willing to steal it. I have personally lost 1000's of dollars like this.

and no matter how bad the problems are, the staff seems to turn their shoulder.

You might know about these types of salvation armies, but i bet you would be scared to go work there too, cause once you sleep in their house and shut your eyes, they own you, and speak can speak all the words you hear in your sleep.

Chances are these specific salvation armies are so corrupt staff and tenant level, they corrupt 99.9% of the people who walk in there, as they become broken down.

I think about my experience with the salvation army, and I would rather stay in the hostpital, fall asleep sitting up straight in the emergency room chair, or I would rather commit a crime such as a mischief, in order to get myself in jail, solely to get away from this horrible dictatorship.

Truth is I cannot trust anyone ever again who has a place in my memory there at the salvation army... ever again... I am sorry

I personally, since I have become a tenant once at the salvation army, can say, that because I have been a resident here, I will never again look at people the same, I will never be able to trust them, I will never go out to socialise no more, I will always be looking over my shoulder as I am so well known from the salvation army people and I feel like a large percentage only live to degrade me or say horrible things because of their jealousy or greed. They cant stand to see me have their woman or have the woman they are attracted to, they are the type who never share.

One thing I know for sure now, Now that I know whose these people are... I never want them close to anyone I love ever again.

All I can have to say to these people is sorry and they have lost their trust from me, and there is nothing they can do that will ever change the fact, that they now have a place in my memory where I would wish to completely block you out of my life,

and never see you again.

what I meant to say by sending all of those to mexico... is that these are the ones who are hooked on the dope...

They will never conform to society as they are "newbs" to dope
They will hate the police because they dont know why the dope is doing wrong to themselves or other people

And they will defend their illegal substances to the point of killing somebody...

Never mind of who lost 100'000s of dollars, never mind of who got raped, never mind who got hypnotised, never mind who lost everybody they ever cared for, nevermind all of the sickness and stench.

Nevermind me.

"As a homeless person, I do not want someone to feed me. I do not want someone to house me. I do not want a blanket, and I will not work for food! You have to ask me what it is I need if you want to have an effect. As a homeless person, I am not even trying to find a way out of homelessness. It is too simple to say that I was going just fine until someone took my shelter away, and now I am in chaos. If only someone would give me back my shelter the chaos would abate. Nonsense. I'm not in chaos. I have a definable set of problems and giving me shelter won't solve them. It is only a tiny piece. Furthermore, I don't want a cure for my life. Most people who write to me who are homeless chose homelessness. Homelessness was their answer to another problem, a foreclosed home, a lost job, a catastrophic disease which left them bankrupt and disabled, an abusive family, a lack. Alas, this is the hardest thing to explain. Homelessness was a positive step toward solving other problems.

...

I've thought a long time about what would be useful to the homeless. We need public toilets. Not filthy portapotties, but proper restrooms that are private and clean. We need safe places to sleep. Capsule hotels, which are found in Tokyo and some other places in the world, would be most excellent. The rooms should be very cheap, and I mean five bucks is too much. They should be subsidized, and there should be twice as many as there is a demand for them. They should be extremely secure, and you should be allowed to stay for as long as you want. We need showers. Safe, secure, single occupancy showers. Those are answers that would help people."

This man is far more educated than I, and I truly admire his efforts. The first step towards helping the homeless is ending ignorance, intolerance, and stigma, and beginning an actual dialogue and discourse where it is possible to disagree without allowing those disagreements to disband innovative programs and projects due to bureaucratic obsessions.

That's all I'm going to say on the topic. I've been homeless, by choice and without choice, and it seems like this topic always devolves into arguments. It never seems like it becomes something elevated into an actual conversation.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to bash my soapbox to pieces with a stolen sledgehammer.

Those shelters that get so out of control should have ALL their staff fired and place shut down, and never allowed to work in homeless society ever again.

Maybe its only because the shelter was located at the wrong spot in the city... But how could you let a corrupted staff a chance to reinstate corruption they have willingfully or unwillingfully been dragged into?

Wether there mistakes were intentional or not.

Maybe what they REALLY need is a computer in there, and as people check in daily, they are allowed to leave a message in chat forum, anonymously, or in secret to a staff, also there should be a police officer on duty there at all times.

I suggest They can leave a message using a computer in the shelter to say how they can improve the system, or they can bring attention to the shelter of a problem...

This way things arent left in the dark, and ignored which was such a shame...

And then check in the forums on all suggestions or issues.

As they are shown on the television in the shelter...
