Well Anthony Hopkins (if memory serves) played Ted in Hearts of Atlantis,and he makes an apperence in the last books.He helps the "Beam Breakers".And James Cromwell since he played Father Callahan in the remake of Salem's Lot they had on TNT a while back. Things like that.Also would say to those interested.Do NOT Read the Coda in Dark Tower...I read that againest my better judgement and afterwards felt cheated.But I was warned and I went againest it.

They don't have an area for books so I just decided to make a book thread here.I read that someone wanted Clint to play Roland..30 years ago I would agree.He looks too old now.I mean yes he was modeled after Clint's Man with No Name after all.But you need a rugged Marlboro Man type and that doesn't exist in Hollywood anymore.However I think James Franco could be a decent Eddie,Hallie Berry a decent Dessa/Odessa/Susanna.And Oy would probably be computer generated.Also would try to get people that have been in other Stephen King movies to reprise their roles in it.IE: Father Callahan from Salem's Lot and Anthony Hopkins from Hearts in Atlanis.What's everyone else's thoughts on this series.

With the War going on and all.I'd like to say thank you to the brave men and women that have or are fighting for our freedom we take for granted so I'm posting A Solider's Silent Night for all those who wish to say the same,pass this on this Christmas Season.

A Soldier's Silent Night

TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, HE LIVED ALL ALONE,

IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,

AND TO SEE JUST WHO IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT, A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,

NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS, NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE, JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,

ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES, AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,

A SOBER THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,

NOT HOW I PICTURED A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?

CURLED UP ON A PONCHO, THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,

OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD, THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,

AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,

BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS, LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER HOW MANY LAY ALONE,

ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,

I DROPPED TO MY KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY;

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,

"SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM, I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,

MY LIFE IS MY GOD, MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,

I COULDN'T CONTROL IT, I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS, SO SILENT AND STILL

AND WE BOTH SHIVERED FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,

THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER, WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,

WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA, IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH, AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.

OK Being from Las Vegas I believe I'm somewhat qualified to make the odds for the human race here.My thoughts are 10 to 1 againest. Reasons : We have nuclear capablities.And every country wants one.M.A.D. Mutually Assured Destruction. 2. Humans are more animals then we want to admit. Survival of the Fittest.This is causing the Earth to get rid of excess population(ie: AIDS,Natural Disasters,Famine,drought,etc)3. And I heard somewhere recently that human are the only species that destroy for fun,and use resources simply because we can.4 Everything that has ever lived has died.Sometimes it takes longer.5. The sun is supposed to go supernova (or something like that) in 10,000 years.Once that happens, End of the World,regardless of any God personages.And for us...We have a lot of capabilities when really backed into a corner.Hence it's not higher.So even if we move to a different planet.There will be an End of the World (Earth) someday.

Last I had heard Trekkies,means TOS.Trekkers is everything after that.I could be wrong though.And yes I like Trek as well as Star Wars.Hell every Sunday TOS was on and would watch it all the time.I've even seen the Old cartoon a few times.(Yes there was a cartoon.) where you learn more about stuff like Tribbles,etc..I still have to say that ST4 Voyage Home is the funniest thing..Love it when Kirk swears..lol And was very educational so hope people took the message.

Ok I have been on the sidelines watching now and I like both,but Love Star Wars...Sorry to say though the Trekkies firing on me had better be wearing blue or gold shirts.Since a lightsaber can deflect phaser fire back to the origin.Also can use the Jedi Mind trick to make you want to go home and re-think your life.Pretty cool in my book.Also the Force is a spiritual thing.Star Trek doesn't have much of that around.Need balance,Physical,mental and spiritual.However to the Trekkers Kirk was the first pimp on TV.Luke could never get Uhura and those green Orion slave women.So there's my take.
