Christmas Tree.
|
|
I went into a large department store to buy a Christmas tree. I chose a rather nice one. When I went to the check-out the young man there asked me, "Are you going to put it up yourself?" I felt rather shocked at such a question and replied, "No, I was thinking about putting it up in the living room." Thanks GD. Beam me up Scotty , Scotty , Ah don't think ah could stand it captain |

Considering that I'll be sixty early next year, I'm in an excellent mental and physical condition, approximately that of a forty year old. Admittedly, I did undergo a two year course of TA-65 that helped enormously. It was expensive and would be even more expensive now but even at a total cost of £3,600 it's the best use of money that I can imagine. Tell us more? |

You must be mistaken! It couldn't have been! You couldn't have seen him yesterday!
He's doing some deal up in Baltimore now... I hate it, when he's away! You must be mistaken, I'm sure that you are! There's more than one car with stickers on. And lots of young guys wear courdoray pants. And I'd know if he hadn't gone! Take that look off your face! (Take that look off your face!) I can see through your smile! (I can see through your smile!) You would love to be right, I bet, you didn't sleep good last night, couldn't wait to bring all of these bad news to my door. Well, I've got news for you: I knew before. I'f I'm not mistaken, it started last year. I'm not very clear how it began I noticed a change, but I just closed my eyes as only a woman can. No, I didn't dig deep. (No, I didn't dig deep.) I did not want to know. (I did not want to know.) Well, you don't interfere when you're scared of the things, you might hear. When he's back, you think, I will end it right there and then? Well, my fair weather friend- you're wrong again! |

Now, we are into a classical language argument "How English is your English?" OR "English is English, full stop! No BE, nor AE!" However, I always love this quote by Noam Chomsky: “A language is not just words. It’s a culture, a tradition, a unification of a community, a whole history that creates what a community is. It’s all embodied in a language.” Oh, you all should advise me for some advice on how I have engaged in this Mingle community. Anyway, it's currently pretty hot here. I want some eyes-scream err I meant ice cream. Have a good day all! Technically, English is based on Frisian dialect ( closely related to Dutch.) was brought to Britain a number of centuries ago. Now, can we get back to learning where I was disrespectful? Grammar police have always made me laugh ,I just cut an paste stuff, Still a big fan and messing about |

Advice is a noun, which means an opinion that someone offers you about what you should do or how you should act in a particular situation. It's an uncountable noun, so it's always singular.
For example: "I need someone to give me some advice." Advise is a verb, which means to give information and suggest types of action. For example: "I advise everybody to be nice to their teacher." !Note - In British English the noun form often ends in ...ice and the verb in ...ise. Just sayin |
