Mythological to have peace? I am afraid not. I post a idea and the reaction comes negative believing it cannot come true. With such mindsets ...yes there will be no peace on this planet. Change your mind and believe in peace and advocate it on a daily bases The more people know about the importance of peace the more people will practice it Peaceful families can create peaceful communities and bring forth a peaceful nation. yet if you think negative in doing so it won't happen Will there be a time where the world will be at peace without wars? Many say no it is not possible. I say yes one day there will be. Positive energy = positive results By the way this message I wrote earlier is from a Cambodian President. If you know the history of Cambodia they had many problems including war. When he announced this speech the war stopped, dialogue came to the tables in trying to restore the countries differences and peace was ensured. It is amazing how one speech can change a nation just like one document can. Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and so forth. Words and Writings can be powerful instruments for both bad and good deeds. Believe we can have better times in the future and we will have better times. It takes baby steps and sometimes you don't take any steps some days, but you never fail trying. Never give up! Believe in peace and most likely we can find a way to ensure it, otherwise YOU are the source of not ensuring peace for the next man and woman and child. There will be no peace as long as there are Muslims in this world. wow just wow 
Ok, by your statement it appears you know very little about the Islamic faith. I won't go into that as all you need to do is look at the Middle East. When was the last time they were completely at peace with no fighting of any kind? I am not even sure. Certainly not since WWII. For being such a peace loving religion as so many claim in this country, they certainly are professing that peace kind of violently... You can not possibly know anything about what I know and do not know about by a 3 word post.... your posts however speak volumes Ok, so --- why did you say "wow" then? What I was pointing out was that Muhammad told his followers to kill those that don't believe and lead an Army into Mecca and slaughtered every man woman and child that did not convert on the spot. His religion does tell his followers to kill infidels. That is what Jihad means. Why does everyone think I hate Muslims???? I don't. I am just aware that they are my enemy simply because I am not Muslim. I have no intention of harming anyone in anyway including Muslims but I will defend myself and the only people I know for sure that are willing to kill me for who I am are Muslims. Makes sense to have your guard up. Except your "awareness" isn't even correct. The hatemongering that has gone on to make Muslims the enemy is pretty sick coming from Christians who are no better at any level. I am not hatemongering as you put it. I see myself as a Warner of the potential threat. Would it be hatemongering during WWII to tell Jews that they could be killed if Germany takes over? I know what is true and what is not. I realize you will never accept the truth that I see. |

The irony Mightymoe is it was the women that pissed me off and set me off. I should know better than to listen to civilians. If I did say anything to offend men; I do apologize. I was just so upset to hear about this topic as its dear to my heart. I always got along well with the men I served with and I was one of the boys. My only real anger is with relationships in which I was physically abused. I love my male friends in the military as they are truly my brothers who have treated me as a fellow soldier/sailor. 
i'm not offended by anyone, i just wish people would look at the article from a logical viewpoint and see that it is slanted and a bit misleading.. seems like your one of the few that did see it logically and not emotionally. i think we all agree rape is wrong, and if has been proven to be rape, then they should help the woman out. But the military is not a free clinic for every woman to give birth in, they all have a job to do, and getting pregnant is not part of that job. Again I have to agree with you. When we first started taking women on combat ships, they would get pregnant to get off ship which left women like me to do their jobs. I guess this is why again I got on well with the guys as I didn't play the pregnancy card. Thanks mightymoe for making me feel better.
I forgot about that. We knew we were going to deploy to Bosnia with our support unit about 8 months before we actually left. There were a lot of women that were trying to get pregnant by any man to get out of the military then... Think there was something like 20 pregnancies out of 50 women that were going to be deployed. |

From a few posts here it appears to me that my stand on rape is misunderstood. I absolutely abhor rape and think the men that do it are scum. Since it has a very high recidivism I think these men should be locked up for life, or possibly be given their own community to live in. But the VAST majority of men are not like that. They actually love and respect women. Such as myself. That said, rape still occurs. How do we prevent it? There is no punishment severe enough that will stop a minority of men from raping. Instead we throw a blanket over all men and say all are bad and should be corralled because they are incapable of controlling themselves. I would prefer to be allowed to be a man and not have to continually apologize for my entire gender. If you want a case of travesty of justice. My former brother-in-law was driving a car when his friend in the back seat raped the girl with them. he was threatened at gun point to keep driving. He was a victim too. But because he was a man in the car he was guilty by association. If it was a woman driving this would have never occurred. He accepted a plea deal to assault - even though he never laid a hand on her. Both lawyers agreed to this and were only sorry they couldn't reduce it further. When they went before the judge, he saw rape printed on the docket. He threw the book at him. Given 20 years and is now a registered sex offender because he drove a car with a gun to his head. thats awful, did he have a public defender ? Gun to the head is clearly under distress , how could an attorney not have won that? the guy that assaulted me had done NINE years for KILLING someone,,and this guy gets your brother twenty years for being coerced with a gun to drive a car? I hope the actual rapist got a harsher sentence,,, shows that justice is JUST for those who can afford to pay for it,, They both got the same sentence. He elected for a plea bargain which meant no jury. Both lawyers said he would be in and out witha years probation. But because it was a plea bargain the judge could rule however he saw fit. Both lawyers were stunned by the judges decision but couldn't change it. |

Yup, a lot of people don't understand the difference if they never served. I remember being shocked when I took my oath to defend my flurry. There is one line where you say something like - I understand I can be executed for dereliction of duty. You say on your oath that you give permission for your chain of command to kill you. This may sound cold. But there was a reason they didn't let women in the military earlier. I believe this just shows why it isn't a good idea. Anyone that argues that the men should just keep it in their pants is of course correct on these situations. However, pragmatically - that is a pipe dream. This post of yours.....disturbing. 2 times now you are saying that if 'we' haven't been in the military we just don't understand.... understand what? Rape is rape regardless of who has been in the military. I already asked..what does being trained to fight have to do with rape.. and i have been wrong before, probably will be again I am only trying to explain why the percentage of rape in the military is higher than the national average. That is a fact. Is it just coincidence? Does the military just attract these kind of people? I think it is because of the way men are trained to be willing to kill someone because they are wearing a different uniform. Because in battle, that is all there is to it. You can't have men on the front line that will be hesitant to pull the trigger because that is another human being on the other side. Personally I have never had an interest in serving in the military..if a woman chooses that, why should she be punished from serving because someone else may want to rape her, that just makes no sense. Put them in a burka, take away the make-up, cut the hair, no pretty skirts allowed.....take away all that makes a woman a woman and the problem still is there because the vagina is still there. Sex crimes have an extremely high recidity rate. There is another reason to keep women out of the military. Rape really destroys moral. I was deployed to Bosnia for 7 months. No rapes occurred that I know of but there was a lot of sex and peeping toms. It got to the point that I was ashamed to even realize the person I was looking at was a woman. I felt guilty just for being a man. I don't think the fact should be ignored...nor do I think the government should pay for abortions. I once watched a documentary about women in the military on 60 minutes or a show like it. There was a very elderly retired military officer talking of his thoughts of why he did not want women in the military. He spoke of his wife and daughters and how his role as a man was to protect them. He spoke of how difficult it is to watch fellow male soldiers being abused by the enemy and how he didn't think he could keep his mouth shut if he ever witnessed a fellow soldier who was a woman being raped, tortured, etc. His reasoning to not want women there was his innate and overwhelming natural response to protect them, women. This to me, is reasonable. Not allowing women in the military because a fellow soldier may have an urge to rape is not. Rape is not about sex, it's about control and power. It would be a cold day in hell that I need any man to protect me!! I have and always will take care of myself. The very thought of some ahole thinking I need him to protect me makes me sick!!!! What that man was saying and I agree with is - it is a natural instinct for a man to want to protect a woman. |
