We can change it if we (the lower and middle class)start paying attention to what is going on around us and start believing that we can.

Sorry, I was trying to think of something funny and upbeat, but it just escaped me. whoa

For how many years have we listened to the republican chant government is the problem and not the solution? This is what you get when you cut funding to the government, less inspectors to catch these criminals and they know it. The odds of being inspected are slim to none. Thanks republicans you trashed our coountry from top to bottem.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Its so funny in our little cow town the fireman and policeman are all anti tax types and hard core rethuglicans. I find it funny that people who make their liveings off of taxes are so against taxes, untill their renewal levies come up that is.

I work hard and am good at my job. I haven't had a raise in like three or four years! But, I do ok. That's not the point. What grips me is that people want all these service from the government, good roads, safe food and drink, help for the poor, health benefits, but hate the government...and don't want to pay for the services! And, we just sit back and let money be scwandered every day! Come on, people, money does not grow on trees!

Umm excuse me, but safe food and drink shouldn't have to be bought, it should be a given!! Thats rediculous!! People can't stand the government, because things that should be done because it's the ethical thing to do, isn't.

You think it's ok to give billions to these banks and car companys, but screw the poor and the children consuming poison everyday.

Who do you think pays the inspectors, pays for the offices they have to have, the equipment they have to use? There are not enough inspectors! That's why this stuff is happening. It's not just screwing the poor, it's screwing everybody that eats, drinks, or otherwise uses these tanted products. Do you know why there are not more inspectors? Because the last administration gave every body a tax break, with the very best breaks going to the very wealthy. So, now, at least our state government can't retain employees. The working conditions for state government employees are as bad as I have seen in 25 years! Not how do we alleiviate that and get back to the level of services we have had in the past? First, we evaluate and really cut wasteful spending. Then, we have to raise the taxes back to the pre-Bush level. And, if Obama can pull off getting this WPA thing started again...and actually find people who are willing to do that kind of labor, we will have good roads, and safer foods and other products. It's not about having BIG government, it's about having a smarter government. IMO flowerforyou

Anyone who smokes, should not want it legalized. It would be regulated so the quality would be worse and the price would be higher. It would be better to decriminalize it to the point that it is not a "sin" to use it. smokin

my elderly rich aunt is tough too

but I'm in the will and she loves me so I have to get her something

she is allergic to any and all fragrances, perfumes, odors, and sighhhhhhh cigarette smoke

and she goes to the Holy Land every year and brings something back so she has no room or desire for knick knacks

and her house is full of exquisite furniture and art pieces

last year I got her an apple corer

Go to your local health food store and buy her some organic or chemical free shower gel, bath soaps or shampoo, if she does her own hair. Make up a basket or something with a card that says how much you care. They worked for me (allergies). If they work for her, it should be good for a cool mill! I'll take 10%. Thanks. smokin

The workers themselves make about the same as employees at Toyota and Honda, about $26 an hour.

wrong. the average pay at an import manufacturer is around $25. the UAW starts at $27 an hour with full benefits. the average is closer to $36 an hour. and also the import figure includes all employees, not just the assemblers in the UAW figures. the fabricators make substantially more.

...many in the ‘elite’ classes gleefully anticipate the complete annihilation of the remnants of the hard-won, historically unprecedented, social contract between employer and employee. With an estimated 3 million jobs at stake, this could mean the extinction of the remaining middle class wage earner and pensioner.

what? hard-won? extinction of the middle class wage earner?

ok, seriously. quote stuff from legitimate sources. try to think for yourself and not regurgitate the same filth that some left-wing nut tells you to.

and while letting the big three fail may have some impact, the industry will not stop working. the UAW will be forced to renegotiate their insanely written contracts. personally, I'd love to see them fall because that would require the renegotiations and lessen the incfluence the unions have. unions started for the right reason. now they're corrupt, greedy institutions that are leeching off others and they've finally hit the point they're going to kill the host, taking themselves down with it.

Wow, two completely opposite takes on the problem. Strange, both sound reasonable to me...even the cut and paste, by the way.

Me, too! Only, I don't work with trash or electricity. I work with people in need. The saddest part is that it is my piers that I see having the most problems. grumble grumble grumble

I still think the money has value.

I think the past couple of decades pushing up prices each year, trying to find out how far they could go has resulted in things not being worth the prices the companies are charging.

There are a lot of things I want, and some things I actually need, that I won't get because I just don't think even the needed items are worth the price tag.

That's exactly right! People should spend, in moderation, if they have cash to spend. Credit is the downfall of this country, because we let it get out of control. Credit has been around for ages, so it can be controlled, and some are able to. People who aren't should be making a plan take back responsibility of their lives. We just don't want to let go of the bling! frustrated

In your opinion, how/why/when will the world end?

In answer to these questions The High Priestess of the Universal Life Church of Brutal Truth and Honesty (me) will now do a three card reading with her magic hand designed and crafted tarot deck.

Card #1 Four of cups: Past Influence:

In this reading it means apathy and discontent. People need to take a second look at their lives and their attitudes. They need to be grateful for their lives and live in the moment and stop worrying about the state of affairs or the future.

The card does indicates that people sense there is something not quite right with the world but they don't know what it is. The advice of this card is to cherish each moment. Appreciate the opportunities that are all around you. Live in truth.

Card #2 Nine of wands: Current energy:

This is an important card that tells us of one last challenge we will face. We are ready and waiting for this last battle. We have come a long way to get to this point in the game and in this point in our history. People feel as if they have come to the end of their fighting powers, but they have skill and determination in reserve that they don't know about. Humans are actually in a position of strength, although they will need to draw on all their courage and abilities. Start planning your next course of action. Look before you leap. Be prepared. Don't panic. Be patient. Keep your own council.

Card #3 Three of Pentacles: Future outcome:

As master builders humans have reached the end of their educational or developmental phase. They have passed the necessary tests and have earned their degree, license, or title. We will now enter into a new realm of experience. This is a step up, not the end or a change of course.

The three is a group card. It signifies a group working successfully together to achieve their goals. Humans will come together and continue to build a new and better world.

Well, let's hope so! flowerforyou ( you are so good at this!)

In about 4.5 billion years, when the sun runs out of hydrogen and expands into a red giant, baking the inner planets.

Of course, humans will be long gone well before that, having evolved into a kind of pasty gray substance that tastes great on crackers.

I have a birthday coming up soon and nobody is going to be around that day, and my best friend lives in another state. So my ? how do you celebrate a birthday by yourself or do you celebrate at all. Any ideas what to do? I was thinking of going to a show or play pickup hockey to make the night go quickly. It sucks for sure but what are you going to do I don't drink so a bar is out of the question just trying to decide what to do.

Can't spend it with that little boy? Celebrate with him another day. It will make you feel good.
Happy early birthday! flowerforyou
