Asides....

This wasn't exactly in my head. But I think I walked by the television at the exact wrong moment today because all I heard was, "Before I get to know you, let me tell you a story about a tiny man..." I've been spending all day to try and think of a situation where that would even come up.

I think redheads fall somewhere between brunette and blond. A lot of people don't seem to care but sometimes you come across someone with a soft spot for it. It's gotten me a fair share of attention, but nothing near what some of my blond friends get. I'm happy most people don't think redheads are "easy" like they think my blond friends are, but I did learn on this website that several men have the idea that redheads are freaks in bed. Imagine my surprise!

psychotropic medications

I've been on and off psych medication since the age of 12. I would suggest trying it if you're having a really hard time and can't deal with the world, but I've never thought of it as a permanent fix. A good thing to do while you're on medications is attack what's stressing you out to the point of getting depressed. I've noticed that when stress is low, I don't really have much of a problem. Also, I feel a lot better when I've gotten enough sleep. I know people have told me that I seem a lot better when I'm on medication so it does make a difference. I wouldn't suggest staying on them for years and years though. All the adults I know that have been on medications for over a decade just can not go off them. If they do they're even worse than before the medication and it's not a pretty picture. Oh, one last thing, pills won't fix everything, but they are kind of a helping hand. I hope that helps.

I'm not a parent, but I think my parents had a good strategy when it came to this. They didn't throw it at me. They said that if I asked they'd get me all set up with birth control pills, no questions asked, especially since there are other benefits to them like helping with acne and regulating periods and whatnot. It felt like they trusted me to be responsible and that was pretty nice.

Most of us have been cheated on at one point or another. Unfortunately, there are people out there that feel it necessary to cheat. Luckily there are quite a lot of wonderful people out there that won't. Just give it time and I'm sure one of these wonderful people will wander across your path.

Serious question

I think you'll be alright. The truth of the matter is you just can't tell someone's age by looking at them. Case and point, I recently had a boyfriend that was nine years older than me. He introduced me to his friends and one of them asked if I went to high school with his sister (who I later found out was 28). I used to go to lunch with him all the time and I'd run into his secretary who once remarked to me, "It's nice to see a girl in her late 20s that isn't married yet or has children." I don't look old for my age (and he doesn't look young for his age either), but people just assume if you're dating you're something near the same age. So I doubt that you'll be getting dirty looks in public. I never did.

What you posted made me think of this for some reason.

I'm at the point in my life where luxurious gifts instead of cards are just starting to be expected. It's absolutely awful. I will admit, I have friends that have broken up with their boyfriend for "not doing enough" on Valentine's Day. All the guys I know are spending their whole paycheck on their girlfriends and girls they want to be their girlfriends. It sounds really sweet, but they're doing it the one day of the year it matters the least. Of course they did something romantic on that day, they're told by society they have to, not that it goes entirely unappreciated, it is nice, but a good amount of romance is lost. I would a million times rather get flowers just because it was a Wednesday then because it was Valentine's Day.

Teenage Wasteland!

The homework was a waste of time. I walked away feeling like they didn't really care so much about learning as I was led to believe. I constantly got the highest scores on tests but hardly did any of the homework so I got terrible grades, well, not terrible, I did just enough work to keep my parents from grounding me (well, with the exception of one year). Other than that it was pretty fantastic. I had wonderful teachers and walked away with an armload of college credits and a 3.4 GPA.

I would never call for looking the other way. I just think everyone would be better off if we were a bit more accommodating. If we let them be here legally, they'll end up paying taxes back to us and do labor the rest of us just don't want to do. Legal citizens are free to work in the fields if they like. I live about ten or fifteen miles from some of these fields. This stuff makes news. They've interviewed field workers that have seen white people try farm work. They never come back for a second day. All I'm proposing is a little reform to make things run smoother with what we have, no other liberal ideas. I live in a little conservative pocket in southern California and I went to school with a lot of immigrants, legal and illegal. Our class president was born in Mexico. Our graduation speaker was Ethiopian (actually born there). Our valedictorian was Mexican as well. I'd be happy to support more legal immigration if that's the result, people bringing their children here and having them work hard and achieve a bright future.

I did say I'd just leave that there, but I did some research. There just literally aren't enough prisoners in the U.S. to meet the labor needs. There are approximately 2.5 million farm workers in the U.S. (and knowing how the system works that probably underestimated). There are 2.2 million people in the U.S. behind bars, not all of which are in minimum security prisons. To have these prisoners work on farms would cost a lot of government money, just think of the money in transportation alone, to support a private industry. If you think that these farms would pay prisoners to pick, well, it just hasn't happened. I guess they prefer illegal immigrants for some reason. Roads are government supported, therefore there's a big benefit to having prisoners clean them up rather than using that labor to support an industry they don't have to fund. Not to mention a lot of people would be pretty up in arms about mostly non-violent offenders being forced to do such harsh labor. Lastly, illegal immigrants are going to try to come here anyway. We might as well give them the visas and let them pay taxes.
