Anyone can goto Esurance.com and get full plans for like $50.00 a month. Everyone wants a handout. If you don't like the fact your employer doesn't offer benefits or the benefits you want find another job.

To be fair I couldn't. I have had a pre existing condition since I was 8. Then again I based my career choice with the knowledge that I need a company to provide medical insurance.

It's interesting that the ranters never respond to posts like this which point out the real-world problems with our current system.

And I solved the problem myself without the aid of my federal government. People can control their own lives to a large degree.

Of the 32 states that receive more than they give in tax dollars to the federal government 21 of those states are Republican.

Of the 18 states that give more federal taxes than they receive 17 of them are democratic.

Wannabe Secessionists, Go For It, Pretty Please we can finally balance a budget.

I like their double bacon 6 cheese pizza.drool Mmmmmmm.

I had that last time. Not as good as the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken pizza. I will need to get that soon especially since all these other guys are gonna try to boycott them.

Also they are not losing money giving away pizzas.... its part of their NFL promo that makes them lots of money. Simple business, they wouldn't do it if it wasn't profitable.

Instead of cutting employee's healthcare benefits, maybe Papa Johns should stop giving away free pizzas.

Some people seem to not understand how promotions work. You see this is a promotion that is part of their deal with the NFL. The amount of money they lose by giving away pizzas is less than the amount of money they get by being "The Official Pizza of the NFL." Otherwise they wouldn't do it.

What did you expect to happen to minimum wage jobs or less than minimum wage jobs that work on tips? You expect employers to just raise salaries? No they will just make people part time. This is no surprise.

I would like to see some greedy over paid executive fix and run his equipment with a talent pool of the underpaid workers he desires so he can have a ten thousand dollar shower curtain. The reason they are going to close their doors is because they open one on every street corner. When you disrespect the people who are working hard for you, you get what you deserve. You should want employee's to be able to go to the dr.s to stay healthy to help you run your biz right. Good help equals a very well run company.

That was done before oBambytax was voted in.

If you know what's in the tax bill, tell Congress. They haven't even read it yet.

If it adversely affects businesses or franchises, repeal the tax.

Put the lazy libs to work and get them off welfare.
So are you saying only liberals are on welfare? Only conserveatives work hard?

What does working hard have to do with anything? I don't work hard and make good money. Lots of people work way harder than me and dont make half of what I make. How hard you work is relatively irrelevant.

Majority of Republican Voters Believe in Demonic Possession
Posted by Breshvic on November 13, 2012
Pin It

Oh, those kooky Republicans, what will they think of believe in next?

Via AlterNet:

A staggering 68 percent of registered Republican voters stated that they believe demonic possession is real. Meanwhile, only 48 percent of self-identified Republicans believe in another equally if not more scary natural phenomenon: climate change.

The poll was conducted by Public Policy Polling, touted by NPR as “one of the most prolific polling outfits in the country.”

In a classic example of cognitive dissidence, only 37 percent of registered voters–both Democrat and Republican–believe in ghosts, although 57 percent believe in demonic possession. This raises the question, which was ignored in the presidential debates along with other essential issues like climate change and the educational system, about what the possessing force would actually be. (Perhaps Karl Rove?)

For more, including Republican Governor of Louisina Bobby Jindal’s own story of demonic possession, read on!

Was it voted to be legal so that the government could provide it ("legal outlets")? Isn't the idea just to let it be marketed like tobacco or coffee? I could grow those right now if I wanted to, for personal use, to create a business selling it, no difference.

Are the state governments going to actually establish a price floor for it? I'm not sure why that would be needed. I'm sure they'll load it up with taxes, but that's different. I'm all for that, anyway. Let people pay for their vices.

It should not be "legalized" and controlled by government at all. It's a plant for god's sake. It should be like any other plant.

Grow your own, smoke your own without having to go to jail.

But the government wants to tax it.

and alcohol is just fermented plants.

Successful companies reducing their employees' hours so they don't have to provide health insurance? Sounds like greedy employers not wanting to provide what they should to their employees.

the stench is strong from bs mountain, isnt it?

how likely is it that megamillion corps like applebees or papa johns couldnt afford a dollar more per hour for full time employees to pay the 'fine' of not offering the coverage?

we get similar tantrum like backlash whenever minimum wage is raised,, but we keep surviving,,,,,

How is not giving them a 20-50% pay raise even if it did only cost $1 an hour not affordable? Well if you owned a company and the government said you had to give a 20-50% pay raise to all full time employees I bet you would lay them off and take in more part timers too.

You realize he lost the popular vote and there are more registered democrats than republicans. The electoral college does not show the country's views but popular votes do. So yes he has a divided country and yes he knows it.

who won the popular vote,,,,,OBAMA

62 mill to 58 mill

and yes, the country is as divided as it has ever been, looking back upon the past three elections and the equal 'division' that occurred in those elections,,,

Yea I already commented on that if you looked like 1 more line down. And he still never commented on what I wrote about taxes.

1. Less Stress, Better Blood Pressure

Having sex could lower your stress, and your blood pressure.

That finding comes from a Scottish study of 24 women and 22 men who kept records of their sexual activity. The researchers put them in stressful situations, such as speaking in public and doing math out loud, and checked their blood pressure.

People who had had intercourse responded better to stress than those who engaged in other sexual behaviors or abstained.

Another study published in the same journal found that diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number of your blood pressure) tends to be lower in people who live together and often have sex. And yet another study found that women who get lots of hugs from their partner tend to have better blood pressure.

2. Sex Boosts Immunity

Having sex once or twice a week has been linked with higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A or IgA, which can protect you from getting colds and other infections.

So say scientists at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. They studied 112 college students who kept records of how often they had sex and also provided saliva samples for the study. Those who had sex once or twice a week had higher levels of IgA, an antibody that could help you avoid a cold or other infections, than other students.

3. Sex Burns Calories

Thirty minutes of sex burns 85 calories or more. It may not sound like much, but it adds up: 42 half-hour sessions will burn 3,570 calories, more than enough to lose a pound. Doubling up, you could drop that pound in 21 hour-long sessions.

"Sex is a great mode of exercise," says Patti Britton, PhD, a Los Angeles sexologist. It takes work, from both a physical and psychological perspective, to do it well, she says.

4. Sex Improves Heart Health

Having sex may be good for your heart. A 20-year-long British study shows that men who had sex twice or more a week were half as likely to have a fatal heart attack than men who had sex less than once a month.

And although some older folks may worry that the sex could cause a stroke, that study found no link between how often men had sex and how likely they were to have a stroke.

5. Better Self-Esteem

Boosting self-esteem was one of 237 reasons people have sex, collected by University of Texas researchers and published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior.

That finding makes sense to Gina Ogden, PhD, a sex therapist and marriage and family therapist in Cambridge, Mass., although she finds that those who already have self-esteem say they sometimes have sex to feel even better.

"One of the reasons people say they have sex is to feel good about themselves," she says. "Great sex begins with self-esteem. ... If the sex is loving, connected, and what you want, it raises it."

Of course, you don't have to have lots of sex to feel good about yourself. Your self-esteem is all about you -- not someone else. But if you're already feeling good about yourself, a great sex life may help you feel even better.

6. Deeper Intimacy

Having sex and orgasms boosts levels of the hormone oxytocin, the so-called love hormone, which helps people bond and build trust.

In a study of 59 women, researchers checked their oxytocin levels before and after the women hugged their partners. The women had higher oxytocin levels if they had more of that physical contact with their partner.

Higher oxytocin levels have also been linked with a feeling of generosity. So snuggle up -- it might help you feel more generous toward your partner.

7. Sex May Turn Down Pain

Here's another thing the love hormone, oxytocin, does: It boosts your body's painkillers, called endorphins. So if your headache, arthritis pain, or PMS symptoms seem to improve after sex, that may be why.

In one study, 48 people inhaled oxytocin vapor and then had their fingers pricked. The oxytocin cut their pain threshold by more than half.

8. More Ejaculations May Make Prostate Cancer Less Likely

Frequent ejaculations, especially in 20-something men, may lower the risk of getting prostate cancer later in life, some research shows.

For instance, a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that men who had 21 or more ejaculations a month, were less likely to get prostate cancer than those who had four to seven ejaculations per month.

Of course, that study doesn't prove that ejaculations were the only factor that mattered. Many things affect a person's odds of developing cancer. The researchers did take that into consideration, and the findings still held.

9. Stronger Pelvic Floor Muscles

For women, doing pelvic floor muscle exercises called Kegels may mean will enjoy more pleasure -- and, as a perk, less chance of incontinence later in life.

10. Better Sleep

The oxytocin released during orgasm also promotes sleep, research shows.

Getting enough sleep has also been linked with a host of other health perks, such as a healthy weight and better blood pressure. Something to think about, especially if you've been wondering why your guy can be active one minute and snoring the next.

Then I will take that remark to mean that you agree with me that science cannot prove the existence of consciousness. At best, all they and anyone can do is try to define it.

Therefore, if they have no way of determining what it is, and where it exists, then they cannot make statements implying that a virus or a tree are not conscious.

Actually you are incorrect. Because unlike you, science uses the accepted scientific definitions of words. You see there has to be a standard of things in science. So they would say they are not conscious.

You say you are arguing philosophy and not science but you keep bringing up scientific evidence.

Yes my dog analogy was correct with yours because the scientific definition of dog is known and can be shown to exist just like the scientific definition. Then you went and changed the meaning of the word to claim it didn't exist just as I did.

Philosophers think they know stuff. Scientists know what they know and know what they don't know.

One can be sure the "investing class" is well vested in our insurance programs they get a return both ways by screwing over we lucky employees who have insurance with ever increasing premiums and deductibles and getting an ever rising return on their investments in pharmaceuticals and for profit medical system.

This nation is ranked 23rd in terms of care by the world health organization and ranked number one in cost.

Go figure.

don't need to figure!
Will be 123rd with the Implementation of that Travesty called Obamacare!
How come POTUS,Senate and House are exempted from it?
They sure sold the American People a Trojan Horse!

Well,YOU HAVE TO VOTE FOR IT;IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS IN IT!
The Chairman of the Committee didn't even know!rofl
As they did not know what was in the Patriot act and we suffer under it as well.

Of course we are being screwed Mr Conrad.

The 1% own the politicians and the media that forms our opinions.

What we have is a start in the right direction and people should be encouraged to discuss ideas and not be mocked by others.

I still am rather amazed a man from Zurich takes such an interest in American politics.
Keep being amazed!
Hope you bunched the Union-Bosses into that 1%!

Hope you'll love your All-Union United States of America!
Last Experiment like that came to a sorry end in 1991!
I have been a union man for 20 years now and have no regrets.

My son turned 19 today and is also a union (is he a man yet?)

it his birthday today and as always I am off to yet another party we are going to my moms to rake leaves and have some food and cake and ice cream a nice family day.

Anyhow at 19 my son has insurance, a good job drives a ford mustang has a cheerleader/gymnast girlfriend and is well on his way to living the American dream.

The America I know that is worth defending does not have its people work for peanuts and deny healthcare, that is the America we would have if the republicans can gain control of this country.

The 1% offshore jobs and their income refusing to support the system that has been so good to them.

In your country Mr Conrad how are your healthcare issue tended to?

I am curious to know how its paid for who pays for it and what not.

I much prefer being a non union man. I have insurance, would have a mustang or camero if I didn't live in a snowy area, a $1200+ month apartment and cash to burn. I have all this not because I need someone to fight to get it for me but because people actually want to win my employment. That's why I can tell them to raise my job offer by 10% if they want me. I just hope your son realizes that it is quite possible his line of work starts to disappear in his lifetime. Just like how many manufacturing workers were replaced by robotic assembly lines. Robotics and alternate fuel is on the rise. Tesla motors is planning to build quick recharge stations for electric cars all across the US in 2013 and I am sure many more to come in the coming years. It is something to think about and discuss with him for his sake. You know his job area and yes he has a good job now but will he still be valuable if things change?

The republicans could not buy the election, they could not win by fear mongering and race baiting.

The auto workers and all related industries came out and voted giving him Michigan Ohio PA and New York.

Americans said we do not want war with Iran or anyone else.

Tax the rich and not the poor.

You can cry all you wish but the demographics all point to the Dems being the party of now and the future.

The republican party is dead or dieing.

I am off to a local brewery to celebrate.

As usual you can have the last word.

(god bless america) if you buy into all that hocus pocus

I am fine with rep party dying. Let them be replaced with libertarians. Tax the rich? Oh you mean that group that pays the highest percentage of taxes already? Don't believe me? Then here is the tax foundations website with charts for total tax returns.

http://taxfoundation.org/article/summary-latest-federal-individual-income-tax-data-0

Your top 1% already have 36.7% of the total tax burden and you want them to have more? So you think that over 1/3 of our countries taxes being paid by 1/100 of the country isn't good enough?

All the while the democratic congress is spending us in the the ground the past 6 years. I saw a post someone made of facebook that could solve our deficit problem. Make a law that states if we have a deficit of over 3% of our GDP then all sitting congress men can not be reelected. There, problem solved.

a virus is alive yet not conscious, plants, etc

False. A virus IS aware (conscious) of its environment. Were it not so, it would "die" and decompose, rather than infect or otherwise transport itself, replicate, or adapt to its environment.

Plants are even more conscious than viruses, since they are aware of the time of day, position of the sun, temperature, soil nutrients, direction of the gravity vector, electric and magnetic fields, etc.

Actually, a virus is not aware of anything. They are more or less crystalline in nature and bump along in the body's blood and lymphatic system like rocks in a mountain stream. If they happen to bump into the complementary protein to their hypodermic style genetic material injector, it triggers, injecting proteins into a cell coded to tell the cell to make more copies of the virus. They have more in common with a land mine than a normal functioning creature. They adapt by constantly commuting errors in duplication thereby "evolving".

The thing about making statements about what you think is conscious or not is you can't ever really know.

You can only speculate from your observations.

Consciousness exists in all things in different degrees. The consciousness of a plant is certainly not like human consciousness but it is still conscious to a degree in my opinion.

The thing is, it cannot be disproven or proven. It is only an opinion no matter what.

The only thing you can know for sure is that you are conscious because being conscious involves experiencing. It involves an exchange of energy and some type of memory or record.

I like how you try to state something as a fact and in the very next sentence use "my opinion".

So if we are just going to change the meanings of words then we can say there is no evidence for anything. For example there is no scientific evidence that dogs exist. And of course when I say dogs I mean 3 headed Cerberus dogs, but I just call them dogs and so now I can argue that there could be so such things as dogs as science can't prove it.

Being aware and having instincts are 2 very different things. But what can we expect trying to argue science with people with no scientific back ground? Also it is not sciences job to prove things. There are many things in science that are not proven that are believed and supported. All proof adds is certainty of something not truth.
