Feeling Fine

I can't think of a better way to describe myself
As I sit here counting my blessings
I have taken the time to confide in myself
And studied my life lesson's

You can take from the rich and give to the poor
Unless, your talking about love
Love comes from the heart and nothing more
This is the part you didn't think of

So now I have it figured out
Except the important part
I trouble to grasp what it's all about
And complicate my heart

The change in life has started to take hold

Hey "Buddy" Got A Smoke?

His face was pale, filled with lines of age
Dark gray hair, a brillo like beard
A depressed calm all around him
Staring at the ground, steady he leered

This was his way, he knew no other
The pain has been with him far too long
It's everything, and it's nothing, it all hurts
He only smiles at his favorite song

Never asked for much, took even less
Gave all he could, surrendered so much more
Prayed to he cried, still to this day
Lost his spirit, and his folklore

Compassion engulfs him, he is shown none
Questions his beliefs, disables his fears
He no longer tries, no longer wants to
Walks the path, but no longer steers

Time has passed, lost and not returning
His life realized, his heart always alone
So much not seen, too much not touched
His only sound a weak, graspy moan

I saw all this in his eyes
When he gave me a poke
Smiled at me, and said
Hey "buddy" got a smoke?
