Has anyone ever had that one relationship that they have never truly gotten over?
The one that seems that no matter what you tell yourself, what you do, or how much time passes you still find yourself imprisoned by the possibilities of what might have been?

" The Red Balloon "

Once there was a lonely red balloon
Hidden from the world in the back of a drawer
It had fallen from its packaging and exiled to the dark
Left to lay in a new enclosed world
But one day the balloon was taken from its hiding place
Then stretched beyond its means
The lonely balloon now anchored
But free to fly and survey
Among others like it but not the same
Constantly being tugged in upward struggles
No power to free itself
The balloon and its companions are then moved to another world
Although not in darkness the balloon still unable to be happy for it still lay anchored
Many strange creatures now wander about
Still pulling and tugging on the balloon
Soon a stroke of luck and the wind sets the balloon free from its captors
Gravity can now not stop the balloon
Momentary happiness now achieved
The balloon flies free
Exploring from above a sadness still lingers
For the balloon finds that it is lost in itself
Missing the warmth of its dark drawer
The rain comes
And once again the red balloon is sent back to earth
Unfamiliar places now grow closer
More creatures emerge
Growing short of breath and weighted by rain the balloon descends back to where it once began
Kicked and battered now from the creatures that once controlled its movements
the balloon looses its sight
It's line now entangled upon a pole and it finds itself anchored once again
Now without the strength to fight gravity
Time passes
All hope gone the balloon now lies withered and out of breath
Wishing it had never escaped
Wishing it still belonged to its packaging
